“Nice place”

Stayed here for a wedding in Harrogate. Room (20) was a bit small but I've been in smaller. Staff were all very friendly and efficient. Lunch and breakfast were both superb. It's described as a 'boutique' hotel, I know this is a term that means different things to different people but for me it didn't quite live up to expectations. It was very nice and I would recommend it to others but not quite as classy as I was expecting.

We stayed at the Hotel for one night with friends, all the rooms appear to be different, our friends had a much bigger room but no bath & our other friends had a large room with bath & shower & small patio area which was good as they are smokers (this room was modern were as the others are more traditional). Our room was probably meant to be a family room as it also had a single bed which spoilt the room really as it was difficult to get to the dressing table & had to climb on the single bed to look out of the window, there was also far too much unnessesary furniture in the room adding to the feeling of crampness, however the bathroom was nice with plenty of hot water, the bed very comfortable and the room clean & warm but i would not be happy with this room again (room 10), we did look in room 8 and that looked very nice. The resteraunt is lovely with a real nice atmosphere but no proper bar area to speak of, the food was very nice but they are not geared up for vegetarians and had only two meals on offer, neither very appitising, however all the meat eaters in our party were happy with theirs, The breakfast is very nice with lots of choice but a different toast service would be better as they only have one 2 slice toaster to do your own toast and every one is crowded round to get to it!. Overall its a nice hotel & i would stay there again in a different room.

stayed over the weekend , had dinner sunday evening whilst a jazz duo played some superb music. The volume was just right, and added to a great atmosphere.
The food was homecooked, wholesome and absolutley delicious.

We (couple in their twenties) stayed at the hotel the night before valentines day.

We stayed in room 15 which is on the second floor at the front of the hotel. The room was very spacious and clean. The room had a double and single bed and a large double shower. There was a small television, hair dryer, toiletries and tea making facilies including two packets of biscuits!

It was really nice to stay in a room that was different to the typical inns\lodges\hiltons! The room had its own character\style and from what I gather, all the rooms have different decor.

We had our evening meal in the restaurant which we had eaten in twice previously. Once again the food was gorgeous and at a resonable price. The service was quite slow although we were happy sitting having a chat and drinking wine! As previously mentioned by other reviews, the staff could look happier as at times they looked miserable! The restaurant has a lovely romantic setting with candles on every table.

Valentines morning (sunday) breakfast was served between 8:00 - 10:00. There is a choice of fruit juices, toast, crossiants, fruit, cheeses and hams which is self service. Full english breakfast is also offered which the waitress brings to you. We both had the Full english which was very tasty! I would suggest that the hotel invests in a new toaster though as it takes forever to toast the bread!

Overall it is a lovely hotel to stay in and ideal location to get in to the centre of harrogate. The hotel also has its own car park which we was not aware of when we arrived so we did not use it. The hotel and restaurant could be made better if the service was delivered with a smile! :o)

If I was to stay at the hotel again I would ask for a room at the back of the hotel as the traffic outside can be heard in the room and we were also woken up at around 2:30 in the morning by drunken people shouting outside (no fault of the hotels).

we had called before for just a drink so based on this we stayed a year later. The room was unusual but felt grubby. The first night we arrived back and before asking if we guests were asked to be on our way when we said we were guests he was a little more pleasant. So the next night we though we'd be ok but no the doors were closed and the chef came down in his boxers to let us in. The next day the chef appeared looking even grubbier especialy his apron. It was a shame the staff let down a sweet hotel.

This hotel is ideally located in town, but sits on a main road. I had room 17 (£65), which was very quiet and sat at the top of the building, facing the rear. Ask for this one if you want a good nights sleep. It`s a decent size double. It doesn`t have a shower though, only a fitting on the bath tap.

There is free Wi-Fi, but the signal won`t reach the top floor- I did piggy back on someone elses unsecure one though!

The hotel regularly hosts jazz nights so if you are in rooms 1-5 then don`t expect to get to sleep before midnight, they are all above the bar/restaurant.

On entering don`t be put off, you will walk into the restaurant! The hotel reception is straight ahead- it`s very small.

The restaurant was first rate (it has a great name around town) and very, very busy, book a table. We had three in our party and we were very pleased with the food and the wine. The only slight downside was the black pudding starter was very bland, despite this being promoted as `award winning`, my colleague had this also and felt the same.

I had the following to eat-

Black Pudding & Poached egg salad- black pudding very bland.

Topside of venison with a mushroom & truffle sauce with roasted celeriac- FANTASTIC!

I`m not sure if it`s just a Yorkshire trait to be deadpan when meeting/greeting/serving etc but not ONCE did I feel as if I was welcome as a guest. The senior staff- Receptionist/come breakfast host and the other chap, (I think) the owner never cracked a smile the whole stay, even when I paid and left a £10 tip for the waiting staff she merely said `ok` and put it in her pocket.

As KLF (The JAMMS) sang..................It`s grim up North.

Would I stay again? .................Totally, the positives far out weigh the negatives.

we have eaten in the brasserie a few times and always really enjoyed it, so we thought for a change we would book a stay over. Most Sundays they offer live jazz, and a current offer is a meal, stay and breakfast for £85 a couple - a total bargain. (sundays only)

We had a room at the back, which was fine, quirky but large in size (a double and nother single bed) and did the job. Staff could not be more attentive or helpful. Free car parking too.

Breakfast was a treat - fruit, cereal, bread and cheese and anything cooking, such as bacon, sausage eggs etc ..

Overall a great stay, jazz was good too :-)
