We stayed over the new year we had a fab time we shared a cottage for 6 adults sometimes it was a little squashed, the cottage was lovely everything you need. The pool area was lovely the games rooms was great and had a few games of table tennis. The grounds of the cottages were very well kept and nice to walk into the cottage was accessible for walking to the rocks and a short car ride to the town. I would recommend a relaxing break

Room Tip: Lovely to relax

Stayed in Oak Cottage for 3 night with extended family and 6 year old grandson. Cottage was well stocked but very dated. It was very damp with humidifiers on landing and in lounge. Beds felt damp and bed linen was old. Floor boards and beds creaked. Booked through Hoseaons who are not interested in complaints. Certainly would not recommend, however countryside was fantastic.

Usually I thoroughly read through the reviews before booking somewhere but we took a chance on this one
After feeling apprehensive on the journey to the cottages, we were pleasantly surprised by the location, welcome & the cottage itself
Judith met us at reception, showed us into our accommodation & around the site (which includes a swimming pool & plenty of local literature)
The cottage was beautiful; and exactly as a cottage should be. Cosy, toasty, old fashioned & welcoming. There were chips on the wall, the decor was dated but if you are expecting a modern open space apartment, perhaps you should stick to a city break.
The amenities in the cottage were more than enough, a nice touch from Judith & David of chocolates & wine. (I do believe well behaved pooches are welcome too)
After reading the reviews about hot tub use; we used it the first night at about 11.30pm for about 40 minutes. We were quiet, but we wouldn't have objected had we been told it was too late
We was took a country walk to Brimham Rocks, drove to Pateley Bridge, walked along the river Nidd & had a day exploring Malham Cove (in the space of a long weekend)
If you like the country side for what it is & the peaceful lifestyle, the cottages are perfect for you!

Before we visited Brimham Rocks, I had flicked through the reviews and had made my own assumption as to what to expect... I was dreading it!
We stopped in Lilac cottage, I travelled with my husband and our 6 month old Beagle - visited 12-16th September.

On arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady (Not Judith) and shown to our cottage. We were given a brief over view - where the swimming pool was, the laundry room, and some basics regarding our accommodation. E.G One hour at a time in the hot tub (Understandable as the Chlorine was so strong), no dogs in the bedrooms (Again understandable not everyone wants dog hairs on their beds).

We were made to feel very welcome, and were pleasantly surprised - we were shown the dog walking area and also a folder full of useful information.
The first thing I came across was the 'dog rules' which frightened me - don't leave your dogs alone for more than an hour. With having a 6month old puppy I knew that was impossible as she has to be walked carefully - but she is crate trained and doesn't bark so I didn't panic too much.

The accommodation was nice. The sofa was slightly lumpy, but adequate for the amount of time we actually spent on it. The kitchen was well equipped and the bed comfy. Yes the floor boards creaked, and there were some slight marks on the walls (Chipped paint) but, if you are expecting 5* then you should really be stopping in a hotel where some one is there to clean up after you every day.

The Bathroom was the one area that let the cottage down - some slight mould in the corners and was very dingy and cold. But all in all the cottage was nice and homely. Hot tub was lovely - perfect temperature for the weather that we had - although as previously mentioned had a lot of chlorine and so neither myself nor my husband could stop in long due to having bad headaches.

The area is just perfect - idyllic in fact. Lots to do and only a short drive away. We recommend Knaresborough (Old Mother Shiptons Cave) and if you have the time take a drive in to York - it was just perfect on our way home.Brimham Rocks is just THE place to visit whilst you are there!

We went to the pub in Fellbeck - (Can't remember the name) and I can not say we rated it much, we didn't feel welcome nor did we feel like 'our faces fit' - maybe its because we are a relatively young married couple? But I did not like the feel of it. We initially went for tea but ended up leaving and heading to Nandos in Harrogate!!

When we eventually met the owners - David and Judith, they were lovely and very helpful. Asking us questions, and genuinely wanting to find out about their guests. We even mentioned we were leaving the dog behind to head to Betty's in Harrogate to which no word was said about leaving her on her own... (I have read previous reviews)

We went with tainted views and were dreading heading on holiday here. But we were wrong. Please do not let other people's opinions put you off. Head with an open mind and make your own assumption. From the impression I got, Judith and Dave were open to help should you come across any problems.

The cottages are nice - worn but warm, well equipped and perfect for exploring. We had no desire to use the Wifi as we had full 4G whilst there - not that we used it much. After all.. we were on holiday!
Only thing we would suggest would be a slight update and paint - but when some people do not treat the cottages with the respect (I suspect this from the amount of chips etc on the walls) that they deserve I can understand how difficult it may be to keep on top.

Make your own decisions, and enjoy and embrace!
