My family and I found this restaurant on trip advisor, we were in Peterborough on our way to a family wedding the following day and wanted to find somewhere to eat during our stopover.
From the moment we arrived we were very impressed with our whole experience, the staff, the food, the pub, the Restaurant itself all were fantastic!
As a well-travelled and dined out person, this is certainly one of those establishments I recognise can quite comfortably call itself a 'pub', but also be up there as one of the top English gastro food restaurants I have visited. The meal was great value for money; we will defiantly be back when we next go to the county. In fact we will be visiting the area in the spring to take advantage of what the lovely area has to offer, and will certainly make a reservation at this delightful pub.

Thanks very much Will and all your staff for pleasurable meal and experience.

We were holidaying in the area and booked at the restaurant for our anniversary. We could not fault any of the three courses we both had which were excellent and is fine dining at it's best. I feel that some of those who have commented on the small portions do not realise this and those requiring plates piled high with food should perhaps not book here. Our only complaint/comment would be that although we were the first to book for that night (we had called in on the Saturday previously) we felt we had been given the worst table, near the bar. We asked to be moved further in and the landlord let us chose another table. It was unfortunate I think that it was steak night which was a special deal and all others in the restaurant were locals which perhaps explained our seating, i.e. favouring the locals. However the landlady didn't help matters by feeling the need to check our name and informing us it was not the table she had allocated to us. That aside we had a superb meal and the young waiting staff were excellent.

We had heard good things about The Blue Bell so decided, on a whim, to call in early on a Tuesday evening. We were not disappointed. The pub has a cosy atmosphere and is very clean. There's a reasonable selection of real ales, wines and malt whisky. The restaurant area is comfortable and nicely decorated. We began with some delicious, warm bread and oil, followed by starters of black pudding and smoked mackerel linguini. Main courses were perfectly cooked venison and roasted cod. We were too full for desserts, although the rum and banana cake sounded good. We had a bottle of Rioja and finished with a glass each of Lagavulin and Talisker. The bill for two came to just under £75. The food was all well prepared and well presented and much better than just pub food.

Some reviewers have mentioned the less than friendly welcome. I would say that the people who appeared to be in charge (possibly the owners) were polite and helpful without being 'gushy' and the young man serving us was very pleasant, so no complaints from us as far as service was concerned.

The restaurant in this pub has had a complete make over and is now very smart. I went with a group of friends and we were most impressed especially with the service from the young man who was our waiter. It was a lovely experience and the food was very good but we all felt disappointed with the small portions and a couple of people stopped on the way back to Peterborough to get some chips from Macdonald's!!

Came with the family including 2 small children. Children enjoyed their meals as did their Mum and Dad. Nice variety on the menu from classics to some well conceived dishes.recomend
