Pleasant, relaxed vibe with friendly and attentive staff.
Good value for money 2 people with 3 courses plus drinks + rum (from an extensive range) = the same price as some home delivered Pizza with sides and a bottle of wine.
Food is varied across the Afro-Carribean and African Spectrum with some stand out dishes, it makes you want to eat your way across the menu - perhaps Embe should consider doing taster menu's.
Try the salt fish - the balance of salt, sweetness and heat is spot on and definitely try the trifle (with its Jamaican twist) and try the jerk chicken (the blonde says nom nom nom)

Constructive criticisms are some of the food was a little salty when it didn't need to b (e.g. vegetable jambalaya). This is a shame as the underlying flavours are really very very good.
Also although spotlessly clean the cloakrooms need a little bit of love.

I have been to Embe a number of times. I love the food, in particular the mutton curry, which is delicious without blowing your head off. I also love the atmosphere which is relaxed and welcoming even if you are visiting on your own, as I was. You are never rushed and always treated with respect. The gently rhythmic African music adds to the ambience. Both wine and real ale selections were good. Not your ordinary, run of the mill, restaurant but something to sit back and savour.

Went here for a birthday meal in the middle of last year actually and only just got round to making this review. I am planning to go again and wanted to make this review before I go. The food we had was great and both the lamb and chicken dishes were soft and succulent. Spicy food is something we enjoy aswell so this was right up our street. Looking forward to visit again.

I've tried most things on the menu and it was ALL great. The owner/chef takes the time to greet you and check that everything is to your satisfaction. If you Like food from the Caribbean then this is the place for you. The Mutton curry is the best I have ever had.
