“Serviceable & Practical”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

Stayed for two nights in June while attending event on East of Englands Showground which is next door to hotel.
Reminds me of a good Champile Hotel, serviceable and practical. Combinded reception and bar with adjoining breakfast/meal area and lounge area. On two floors only and did not notice any lift. Rooms were excellent, very well laid out, attractive but still with that air of practical servicability. Particularly liked the hard or soft notices on the pillows. Everywhere was very clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful allowing us use of our room right up until 1.00 pm on day of check out at no extra charge, very useful.
We only had breakfast which is always limited at Holiday Inn Express to sausages, beans, toast cerial etc. But I'm not complaining I would have only eaten a full english and put more weight on.
Overall I would recommend anyone who needed somewhere to stay close to the A1, the showground and/or Peterborough, good value for money and a good nights sleep.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the left side of the corridor as those on the right overlook houses

Thank you for your recent review.
I am pleased to see that you found the hotel up to a standard and all that you require for a nice stay. The hotel as you mention is in an ideal position for staying at if visiting an event at the Peterborough Arena or a stop over if needed a break from a long drive on the A1M.
If you do visit Peterborough in the future i look forward to welcoming you back to the Holiday Inn Express.

Stayed here for Peterborough Regatta - reasonable price for 3 of us. Clean rooms and good breakfast. Couldn't fault for the price. Reception staff were incredibly helpful - supplying maps to get to regatta and getting me an additional quilt (in june!)

Situated next door to a Harvester - which gets really buzy on a Saturday night (remember to book). Only reason it got a 4 stars is that walls were thin and not insulated - and I only give 5 stars for a luxurious retreat.

Thank you for such a nice review.
I am pleased to see that you found the room clean, the breakfast good and the staff helpful.
These are all things that we measure ourselves on and it is nice when a guest comments and lets us know when we get things right.
I'm sorry if the partition walls were a bit thin and under insulated this is unfortunately due to the age of the building. I do hope that this has not put you off staying again and that we will be able to welcome you back at some time in the future..

On a family trip to London from India we were sceptical regarding room size and service. We had a one night halt at peterborough to watch the grey hound race.Well the extra couch cum bed had loose springs but the freshness and cleanliness of the place took that snag away. No lift so had little difficulty with the heavy luggage as we were with kids. Breakfast included which was good. Would definitely suggest .

Me and my husband stay here every year for Modified Nationals and book as soon as we find the date out of the next show and save a lot. Staff are very helpful and polite, the rooms are clean light and airy. Facilities are good excellent breakfast, plenty of car parking, next to the harvester overall excellent stay :) fully recommended

Room Tip: Make sure on ground floor or side rooms not at the back as looks onto the main road and quite noisy

It is always nice to receive a review that lets us know when we get things right. This is what all the staff at the hotel work for, pride themselves in and when a guest lets us know we really appreciate it.
Once again thank you for you review and we hope to welcome you back next year for your fifth stay.

Conveniently located for the A1, in a quiet spot just a short drive from the city centre, and a local (pretty average) shopping centre, this is a pretty typical Holiday Express hotel with ample free parking space. Check in is efficient and the rooms reasonably quiet; just a little traffic noise on one side from local traffic (not the A1). Could be more problematic when an event is staged at the nearby Peterborough Arena.
The rooms are all located on the first floor and as there is no lift this could pose problems for some people. The rooms themselves feature (in our case) a comfortable double bed, tea/coffee making facilities, a desk, TV, WIFI, shower cubicle (liquid soap dispenser) and WC. A short walk from the hotel is a seemingly popular Harvester pub, serving evening meals. Breakfast at the hotel is complimentary and is of buffet style comprising a selection of serials, yoghurts, fruit, breads, jams toast making facility, juices, hot drinks and some hot meals e.g. sausage/beans, scrambled eggs. Unlike some HEE hotels where one can order a morning newspaper of choice, in this hotel the choice is 'Hobsons' i.e. its 'The Independent' or nothing.
In short a good hotel that we would use again if in the area.

Room Tip: Perhaps a room away from the main road may be quieter albeit at the expense of a more open aspect. B...

Thank you for your recent review.
As you have pointed out in your review we are near to the A1 and ideally suited for a stop over for a weary traveller or a good nights stay if you are attending one of the many events held at the Peterborough Arena. I am glad to see that you enjoyed your stay and would stay with us again in the future if you find your self in the Peterborough area.

We stayed here Saturday night while the Modified Nationals car show was on at the show ground. The room price seemed to be double the normal rate of other hotels.

The staff were perfect, could not fault them, they went above and beyond with the service provided.
Harvester was full, so we ate at the hotel by ordering a take away from the menus provided by staff. The staff also provided a table and cutlery to eat the take away. Very good service.

The room was as you would expect, clean tidy and had everything you needed for a single stay. (no fridge)

The hotel was noisy and cars were started up very early in the morning with loud exhausts, we knew this would happen so didn't mind. But be warned if there is a car event on to expect this.

Breakfast was cheap and cheerful, slightly annoying that the eggs had run out and once its gone its gone. The staff couldn't bring any more out when asked.

No free wifi slightly annoying in todays day and age.

Would stay here again if attending an event.

Thank you for your review.
I am sorry to see that you found the noisy in the morning due to the car show, this is an event that happens only once a year and can be busy. This was one of the reasons the eggs at breakfast were running out quickly. I am pleased however to see that through the whole of your stay you found that the staff gave you good service as this is always a focus fo us. I do hope that we will see you again at some future date.

We had a nice stay at this hotel, it is very good for access to the show ground. The room was clean but the bed was too soft for my liking. The only bad point for us was that the internet didn't work and I needed it for my business. The staff kept giving us these stupid codes and once told us that standing by the TV gave the best chance of getting a signal! we were also told the wifi was being looked at in July!!! thats over 2 months away!! don't they have engineers in Peterborough?
We all know Wifi costs are small. Its about time WiFi was fast and free with no stupid logging on processes. I would stay at this hotel again but only when they sort this out.

Thank you for your review.
The Wifi availability seems to be your main concern and was the cause of a lot of frustration for you. We are aware this is a situation that we are in the process of upgrading as the system is old in todays market. Please give us time and i do hope that we will be able to welcome you back at some future date.
