After spending the day in Cambridge (which is beautiful by the way!) my husband and I drove to the Bell inn Stilton. Easy access from the A1M, it is situated on the main route through the village.
The building is very old, but has been beautifully restored, retaining the ambience and atmosphere of a bygone age. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, with modern well appointed bathrooms. My only niggle was the shower, which was not the most powerful.
On the day of our arrival there was a wedding party, but this did not disturb us in any way and we booked the restaurant with ease. It was busy but the food was superb and the staff courteous and attentive, I chose a wonderful 'stilton' cheese board for desert which was unusual and delicious.
We stayed for one night and I must say, a great base to explore the area and a good alternative to stay in the countryside instead of the city. The area is really beautiful and I would highly recommend this hotel.More
