Saturday night in Ruislip, lovely welcoming restaurant, extremely friendly staff, cosy, warm and upbeat. Had the beef feather with mustard mash - tender and tasty, then after a bit of a cock up with the puds, Antony gave me two for the price of one - both delicious. It's a lovely old building, it's not trying to be Michelin star quality, but had two great quality courses for two, a good bottle of wine and two G&T's on arrival, all for £66 - well worth a visit, and I'd go back again tomorrow if I had a good enough excuse!

Thank John R

We went for Sunday lunch & our table booked for 8 was only big enough for. 6 people - luckily we had two children in the party. The table next to us was very close & we all felt cramped.
The menu was interesting & plenty of choice, sadly the food did not match up. 3 of our party ordered the roast beef but we're told they had run out of roast potatoes but when questioned they said they could cook more in 20 mins which was not a problem. The main issue was the beef which turned up like small steaks but were so tough & were impossible to cut, we thought they were not slices from a joint of beef but cheap cuts. The rest of the food served was ok but all seemed to lack a little attention to detail.
The waitress offered free deserts as compensation which was fine but the total bill was £200 for the 8 including drinks which for the overall experience seemed expensive. Not sure we would be tempted back.

We went early, by signing up for a gold card it then and there entitles you to 25% off food. The venue is very nice, nice real ale on tap and the food was fairly average, not too bad but standard fare, very overpriced (ribs) £17 ! All in all a good night without the discount it is too expensive for what you get.

I telephoned the DuckHouse and made a booking for the next day sunday lunch. I said that we were two wheelchair users and they said that wasn't a problem. I had, in fact, used the restaurant on two previous occasions and the wheelchair was accommodated.. The main entrance has two steps down, so we went to the courtyard/conservatory entrance. Their advertising "sandwich board" was jammed over the gate so we had no way of entering the courtyard. We sat there on the pavement for a good 10 minutes waiting for someone to come out and let us in. The waiting staff were serving the clients who had managed to get into the restaurant, glancing up at us every now and again through the conservatory windows, but basically ignoring us. I would have thought that before the lunchtime service they would have noticed in the bookings that there were two clients in wheelchairs arriving and 'Oh look there are two ladies in wheelchairs waiting outside. Could they be the two prospective diners'. But no. We were totally ignored and made our way to an alternative restaurant in Ruislip, where we were welcomed and had an excellent lunch. I wrote to the manager the next day (7 October) but have yet to receive a reply (7 November, 2013) Having in hindsight looked at other reviews of this place, their days are numbered, and rightly so !

You cannot really go wrong here. Nice staff, the food is "what it says on the tin" and there is even real ale (have a taste first as they do not sell a lot). The desserts were a bit of a let down but the mains were all good AND the building is great, though we opt not to sit the conservatory as it can be cold/hot.

There is a car park in St Martins Approach which is "pay and display" but free after 6 pm and is but a cock-stride away.
