Absolutely brilliant, this guy is a genius. Clever menu, great wine list and fantastic staff. For the west country its about as good as it gets. If you can, get a table in the restaurant, its less busy than the bar but to be honest all the tables are in good positions. Its not a big pub so you may have trouble booking unless you give it a bit of advance so to speak.
We have eaten at the Pony many times now and the experience has never been less than excellent. In the summer and the sun there are tables outside with a great view across the Chew Valley.
I have eaten the best roast beef Sunday lunch I have ever had in a restaurant, anywhere, including Simpsons (which is very good) at the Pony and Trap.
