We stayed at Hillsview for one night and felt lucky Ina could accomodate us. The room was clean with a very comfortable bed, crisp sheets and a lovely homemade quilt. Breakfast was a delight with homemade patridge berry pancakes, ham and toast. The jams that were served were all homemade by Ina and were delicious. Coffee and tea were availalbe any time as was water or juice. Ina was truly lovely and if we are ever back in Gunner's Cove we will hope to stay here.

Stayed here July 20-22, 2012. It was a lovely, clean, spacious home with very genuine and friendly operators, Ina and Selma. All the bedrooms have their own ensuite washroom. Our bed was a queen size with a beautiful quilt made by the owner. A full breakfast offering homemade bread, jams, eggs, ham etc. was included...delicious. It was close to St. Anthony, L'Anse Aux Meadows and several restaurants. A very positive experience. True Newfoundland hospitality. We would definitely stay again. Thank you Ina and Selma!

A wonderful place to stay. We stayed for 2 nights and found the people here very friendly. The breakfast was delicous homade bread and jam. the rooms are very nice and have all the amenities you would want. I tried to book a room in St Anthony but could not get one. I'm glad or I never would have found this gem. Lots of great hiking and geocaching in the area. Ina and Selma were lots of fun. I will recommend this B&B to others I know.

Stayed at Hillsview for 2 nights. It was a clean B&B in a renovated older home. Here's what I thought:

LOCATION: Very close to L'Anse Aux Meadows and about a 20 min drive to St. Anthony. It is not in a town though, so you would definitely need a vehicle to access any stores, etc. It is a quiet location on a bay.

HOUSE: Older house renovated about 10 years ago into a B&B. Nothing too special about the home itself, but it was definitely clean/tidy. There was a nice spot outside to sit and relax and just enjoy the calm - but it was too cold when we were there in mid-June to stay out very much.

ROOM: Our room was a double bed with ensuite. I believe all rooms have ensuites and there are Queens, Doubles, and one room with two beds. The ensuite was nice and they provided a hair dryer, nice towels, etc. The bed was comfortable and had a beautiful homemade quilt.

NOISE: We did find it quite noisy. The other people that were staying in the house (a group of 5) while we were there we not very considerate about the amount of noise they were making VERY early in the morning (before 7 am). We could hear there entire conversation from downstairs in our room. Being woken up wasn't a pleasant experience, however it was the other guests and not the b&b at fault.

BREAKFAST: Nothing fancy but a good hot breakfast. One morning was bacon & eggs and the other morning was French toast with fried bologna (not my thing but a common breakfast item in some parts of Canada). There was also a selection of cereal and porage for those that wanted a lighter option. Homemade jams were available for your toast. Coffee was good (and there were plenty for refills). Orange and apple juice also.

ABOUT MOOSE: Yes there are many moose in this part of the province. We went driving at dusk looking for them and we saw over 30 in about an hour. They are not as dangerous/scary as some people make it out to sound. They generally stay on the sides of the road eating and as long as you drive at a reduced speed and keep your eyes open you shouldn't have an issue - its not like your vehicle is going to be charged by a moose. We drove slower at night but locals were passing us all the time driving regular speed.

OVERALL: We didn't have any major complaints. It's not the best B&B we stayed at in Nfld. but still a good option.
