Bodlwyfan Guest House
Ranked #3 of 4 Penmaenmawr B&B and Inns

Firstly, it was not easy to find the B&B. The parking is in the back and you have to find the way there somehow. We arrived on Monday afternoon, the parking is in the B&B's garden. We had to fit our cat between a caravan, an old boat and 2 dogs tied to a bench on a long line - which was quite a task. Then we were taken to the room through the back door. The mess and dirt was terrible! in the utility room and kitchen you couldn't see the windows! Clothes, shoes and rubbish were pilled up on the windows - looked like years of accumulating stuff! The TV programme 'how clean is your house' sprung to mind! The kitchen was disgusting, work tops dirty. The owner took us to our room. She explained there are no locks on the rom door as she did not want to damage the door! I wasn't hapy with that, we had our laptop and valuables. When I booked the B&B she said we are getting the sea view room and we will share the bathroom with her and her husband only. On arrival she took us to a different room! With a view to the 'garden' - a lawn full of rubbish and broken metal parts! I requested the sea view one as booked and she took us there at the end but if I wouldn't say anything we would have ended up in a worse room! Then it occured the bathroom is shared with everybody! I tried to get a straight answer from her why she said it s only shared with the owners, but she never gives a straight answers, just avoids the confrontation. We got into the room, seemed not too bad, but my husband got on the bed and the pillows smelled! She never washed them after previous guests! We went to the bathroom and it was the dirtiest bathroom we ever saw! Hair, mould and dirt everywhere! We decided to go out to the village and look for another B&B. It was 4pm on Monday. The village was empty! One shop and pub was opened, there was nobody on the streets apart from 2 groups of loud huddies. We decided to leave this dreadfull village and try luck in Conwy. We went back to the B&B, took our bags and told the owner that we can't stay in such conditions, poined out the dirt and the state of the place. She said it was cleaned and requested 20 pounds - for washing the bed covers as we sat on them!!! They were dirty in the first place!!! I gave her those 20 pound, just to get away from there. We found great B&B in Conwy and the rest of hols was great, but I was shaken after this situation and very distressed. There was alos another couple - they arrived shortly after us, were taken to the room with 'rubbish view'. They faces were grim as well when they saw the state of that place, and when we came back from the vilage they were gone as well.
Do not ever go there, the owner is lying straight in your face and the place is dirty and disgusting!
The village is awful, there is nothing to do.

Having read this review I was shocked. We did not know these people. As soon as they came through the door you could sense they were not happy and wanted an excuse to leave. It is a bed and breakfast, not a 5 star hotel. We do have two dogs who were tied up outside, The bathroom was completly renovated two years ago and clean, They did lie on the bed which creased all the covers and needed washing. the bed covers are washed everytime people stay and were not dirty. The fact that they made derisory remarks about Penmaenmawr and hoodies shows there minset. Penmaenmawr is a beautiful peaceful village with great restaurants and lovely beaches. Bodlwyfan is a clean, friendly and homely place to stay. If you want nightlife then Penmaenmawr is not the place to stay.
