Had lunch today in the Grand Hotel. Two course meal with tea or coffee. Very impressed with consistant high quality of menu, food, and presentation by the staff. I had a baked hake with creamed spinnach, roasted red pebber and red pepper sauce on a bed of mashed potatoe. It was perfectly cooked and a lovely combination of flavours, with carrots, broccoli and parsnip on the side dish.
The other choices were crispy duck salad with beetroot, orange and goosebery compote, that looked very appetising or Supreme of Chicken on a spicey butter bean and tomato ragu. Dessert was profiteroles & choclate sauce or Pear and almond frangipane tart with caramel sauce.
This was a regular Monday lunchtime Rotary Club meeting that I have had the pleasure of being a guest speaker on many occassions. Always a very good lunch of high quality service and presentation. All that might be missing would be the gold plates and silver spoons! Go there.

The hotel is right in the Wicklow town centre, very handy location. It has a welcoming lobby, friendly staff, free parking for guests. The room looks nice on first sight, but on second look you can notice wholes in the decoration on the walls, in carpet, squeaky floors, also the TV reception is not great on some programs. The bed was comfortable, but the room is no sound proof at all and you can hear everything that's going on outside of the room. we went for dinner in the hotel restaurant and that was not a very nice experience at all. The waiter did not listen for the order properly, we waited for food for a good bit and it did not arrive with sauce, no salt.... also it did not taste good. Breakfast was ok, but not up to scratch.

Surprised when arriving as hotel looked as if still in the 1920s! However, it had character and the owners had attempted to smarten up areas as able but to bring up to modern standards much money needs to be spent. Our room - 110 - was clean and and equipped reasonably well. The bed was comfortable and the en suite had all that we wanted.
Having said we enjoyed our two days there. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful.Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent a good choice, cooked and presented. The bar was packed on the Sunday when a duo played and sang typical Irish music. The manager found us a quiet corner and we enjoyed a copious meal of pasta. The next day we planned to eat in the hotel restaurant to find it closed - regret not advertised to that effect. Staff tried to find one open in the area without success. We ate again in the bar to have it virtually to ourselves. The food was very good sand reasonably priced.
This is a good centre to visit the beach at Greystones, Powers Court water fall, the beautiful Glenalough and the monastic area. Give a long time to visit Wicklow Gaol at a meander around the harbour. A delightful town even if the out of town stores had virtually killed off the High Street.

Room Tip: About the only hotel in the area that we could find. Staff are trying hard in difficult climatic con...

We ate in the Bar on Sunday evening and really enjoyed our meal. The bar was very busy at the time as there was a very good music session on from 6 - 8p.m. and service was a little slow.
Very good food - the Thai chicken curry was delicious and my friends enjoyed the burger and the salmon dishes. Good choice of wines but a little overpriced.
Overall the meal was very good value and we will certainly visit again.

I would say that the room I was in (109) probably hasn't been touched since the 1980's and is in dire need of refurbishment. The bedside cabinets were falling to bits and the bathroom is a little basic. Having said that the entrance area is welcoming and the staff were friendly - but then it's Ireland, you wouldn't expect anything less. The 'full Irish' certainly did the trick after a night on the black stuff! The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

Stayed 1 night in the grand, my husband and I asked for a double room, we were given a triple room 219, The room was clean, comfy bed, room had hairdryer, iron and ironing board. The only complaint I had was that the room was very cold the heating was not on.Woke up during the night freezing. We had the bar meal it was nice. We were going to eat in the resturant but it was empty. We had breakfast there was a choice of continental or the full irish fry.Over all would stay here again, It cost 95 euro for the 1 night.

We recently had a break in the Grand Hotel Wicklow and enjoyed our stay. The food is excellent and well priced, The room was clean and well serviced. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was excellent. The dining room looks a bit dated as does other areas but it adds to the old world charm of the hotel.
