“World Class Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2010

I just spent a fabulous night in the Woodenbrige hotel. We were married in the hotel five years ago and returned to celebrate our anniversary. Five years on and the Service in the hotel is better than ever. We got a room with a view which was wonderful and the staff were just as friendly and approachable as ever. Will be brining the kids next year! Would highly recommend hotel for a family or romantic getaway!

We stayed at the Woodenbridge Hotel about 6years ago and had fond memories of it. We returned there in August this year and were disappointed to say the least. We were put in a dark musty room to the back of the hotel on the 2nd floor. There were sticky stains on the dressing table which made me wonder straight away what kind of cleaning standards the hotel had. We returned to the hotel later that evening with my father in law for barfood. The bar was full and the manager directed us towards the restaurant. What appeared to be the restaurant manager told us that we could only eat from the restaurant menu in the restaurant. We explained to him that we were sent to the restaurant as the bar was full. The bar manager then came up behind us and believe it or not an argument ensued between both managers as to where we could sit and from what menu we could choose. Eventually with what I can only describe as bad grace the restaurant mgr let us into the restaurant. Breakfast the following morning was a similar ordeal. The waitress did not say hello, good morning or even smile - she literally barked 'tea or coffee' and then went on to whether we wanted a hot breakfast or not. Being in jobs where we both deal with the public on a daily basis - we were astounded by the staff's attitude and appalling service, indeed if the service & attitudes were a bit better you would nearly put up with the dinghy room. We were due to stay two nights - a Saturday & Sunday, but we were so annoyed we checked out a day early. When we checked out - the receptionist did not ask if there was any reason we were checking our early - again if I was losing business I would want to know why so it wouldn't happen again in the future. I am very surprised to see other good reviews for this hotel - perhaps we got it on a busy weekend, however there is no excuse for bad service and bad staff attitudes, and certainly two managers having an argument in front of you is unforgivable.

just relax and the staff will do the rest . the service was amazing, I lost a gold earring of great sentimental value I rang the Hotel and asked them if they would look for it they did.Michelle Kenny had it posted to me in the U.K. in two Days. My daughter was late for breakfast one morning ,I did not think she would get one ,but no bother to Liz a fab. cooked breakfast was put in front of her. What a wonderful place to stay. We will be back.

I have visited this Hotel a couple of times now and I have to say it is such a lovely place to stay, friendly Staff, clean spacious rooms, lovely food and absolutely beautiful surroundings!
My Husband and I stayed here with 20 of our closest Family and Friends back in April 2008 when we got married and everyone was rerally pleased with our choice of venue.
We have not had the chance to go back and visit since our Wedding and we have just booked to go back and visit in December for the wekend!!!
We are really looking forward to our little weekend break to our favourite little Lodge in Ireland!!

I stayed here for a long weekend recently and thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. I stayed in the lodge which is located just beside the main hotel. The room, although basic, was very comfortable with all of the facilities you would get in the main hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and responsive. The hotel recently celebrated 400 years and when you sit in the bar or restaurant, the history of the place is visible all around. This really adds to the experience of staying there. The food was really very good. I stayed on a DBB rate and had dinner in the restaurant on one of the nights. It was a fabulous meal...exceptional quality and service. I can say the same for the bar food....great range in the menu and the quality of the food was of the standard of the restaurant. The location of the hotel is ideal. It is approx 4mins drive from Avoca, and near enough to some of the Wicklow highlights - Meeting of the Waters, Avondale House and the like. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for exploring Wicklow county and its environs.

We have just had a 5 day break at he Woodenbridge Hotel and found it was in a beautiful setting ableit away from an€ villages Avoca was the nearest 2 miles away The hotel was great as we were in the lodges and they were very comfortable. The only complaint we had was that when we went to have our evening meal as we were on a package holiday the service was very slow to say the least. We had to wait until all the guests from our holiday were in the restaurant before they would serve up as you can imagine we were starving after a day out and to wait nearly 2hrs to serve 3 courses was aboit much. Saying hat the food was great and plenty of it staff were friendly all though slow but could not fault the hotel bar staff were friendly asking where we were from etc but would stay there agian if the cance came as there was a golf course across the road

we stayed at the lodge part- NOT the hotel part of the accomodation,
so i cant tell you anything about their hotel part.
the lodge was a very very basic accomodation with not much service.
for food , drink and everything else, you will have to go to the hotel,
not far, just at the ather side of the road - not toosafe road.
and the room was very very basic, a bit cheaper feel than a days-inn-type of hotels.
nice rocation and hotel staffs are fine and all but maybe not again.
