My self And my sister stayed in this hotel and we found all the staff to be very helpful
We had dinner on the Friday night in the resturant and the meal was really good no complaints ,The one thing i would say is the menu is quiet different from the sample menu on their website mabey they could update it . we visited Serenty the next morning for a bit of pampering and we were not dissapointed we were so relaxed we could have done with a nap !!! I had stayed at the Whitford about 4 years ago and i was hopeing it was as nice as i remembered it I was not dissapointed and as they say Ill be back ,Hopefullt sooner rather than later .
Thank you to all the staff

If you’re 50+ and like drinking & dancing with the locals you may well enjoy this hotel. If you’re looking for the more rounded services you get in other 4 star hotels then you will be disappointed.

Our disappointment started with the dinner. Firstly their actual menu in no way reflects the "sample menu" on their website. If you’re expecting duck, crab claws, scallops, fillet of lamb… then think again. You can expect chicken, beef or salmon with a high chance of it being overcooked. Additionally over half the menu had additional supplements (if you are on a dinner package).

To top it all off the service in the restaurant was bad to the point of being rude. After only sitting down we were immediately asked for our food order. Indicating we needed time to look at the menu she went away. 10 seconds later our waitress came back & again asked for our order. Again I indicated we need “some” time to review the menu. At this point we still hadn’t been given a wine list, which I then requested. After 15 seconds she came back again at which point I hoped to keep her busy & at bay with our wine order. Surprise, surprise our wine was not available, although never indicated to us from their “sample wine menu”. Their were other episodes on our dinner saga but hopefully that gives you some warning.

The breakfast was average at best. The pig elements all seemed deep fried, with the sausages extremely over cooked. We could only laugh at the overcooked poached egg we had “cooked to order” – it was rock solid in the middle & going grey at the edges it was so over cooked.

The rooms were clean & beds were comfortable, but the fixtures & fittings are very dated.

As per previous reviews the staff were friendly, but unfortunately being friendly doesn’t mean helpful. The hairdryer in the room was ancient & would do better in a museum. It would overheat after 1 minute usage & not work again for a few minutes. Requesting an alternative from reception resulted in a faulty towers episode of suggestions etc. Needless to say no alternative existed.

The pool area was the only reflection of a 4 star hotel & the spa (run separately) was lovely.

After my experience I would have to question if all the previous reviews were from real guests?

I dont know why the review below was left as we are just back from a weekend at the Whitofrd House Hotel and all i can say is im looking forward to returning , We checked in on Friday evening and the receptionest was very frendly she could not have been nicer or more helpful.
Our Rooms were large and very comfortable, Although i did not use the leisure facilites my husband and farther did and they were very happy with them , As for the food it was the best food in any hotel i have been to , you could see this by how busy the bar was all weekend for food , The breakfast on both mornings was outstanding as were the frendly staff , We had dinner on the Saturday night and again the food was great as was the service provided , I could not fault this hotel in any way we recived 5* service all weekend
We will be back

We stayed at this hotel after we received a gift voucher from our parents. We were greeted by a very friendly person at reception and the room, whilst a little dated, was reasonable and did have a king size bed (we paid for a superior room). We visited the serenite place and had a fabulous massage! We went to the leisure centre and the sauna, jacuzzi and steamroom were all great, and it boasts a really big pool. So, no problem then? Well, just one, the food was such a let down. The chef in this hotel seems to think that putting a sprig of parsley in the middle of the plate will disguise the fact that he's serving dunnes stores frozen hash browns and poor quality pudding (which was burnt, possibly reheated). It doesnt. My partner ordered a waffle on the second morning, guess what... from a packet! It was like rubber! Which leads me to dinner. We were wary from the breakfast that the dinner would not be great so we had a nice lunch in "jacques" in town for 40euro (2 course + coffee+ glass of wine). However, even with low expectations we were disappointed. Without going into the detail, little evidence of any professional skill culminating in shop-bought meringue for dessert and the worst coffee i've ever tasted. oh, and 2.75 for a glass of sparkling water which they made sure to charge us for, even though our dinner was part of a 278eur package. Finally, on departure, we advised the receptionist that the water in our superior room had been a brown colour for the last 2 days. he thanked us for the information and served us with our bill for 355eur.... if you want that kind of money, hire a professional chef.

Myself and my partner stayed at the whitford for 3 nights in march. Well what can we say. We are very particular about what to expect when we stay at hotels and this hotel gets top marks for everything. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful and we stayed in a superior room which was quite big and had a good sized bathroom. The rooms were cleaned to top standard and the best thing is it was so quiet. When i stay at other hotels in europe i always hear noise from rooms either side or above but at the whitford we had some of the best nights sleep ever in a hotel. We did hear the cleaners talking one morning outside the room but that was all. The breakfast was full irish and tasted great and the waiting staff were very polite and coped well when busy.
My partner had to see a doctor in an emergency(not related to the hotel) the reception staff rang the local doctor and she was seen within the hour. We are very gratful to the staff at the hotel for this.
We stayed on a package deal which included an evening meal . It was three course's and the helpings were more than ample.
It is only about 10 mins from wexford town by car.
So would we recommend this hotel , yes in fact we have told a few of our friends and family already.

twenty minutes after our dinner i asked the barman for dessert menus.he forgot about us even though there was only one other table in the huge bar.i went up again and he came down.we ordered desserts and twenty minutes later no sign of them.we were returning to the maldron hotel for a swim and had to get the bill and cancel the desserts.cant see this place surviving with the high prices and dreadful service.was once a great place.pity it has gone downhill.

Dear Fair is Fair,

Thank you for taking the time out to offer us your constructive feedback. I am deeply saddened to hear that we failed to meet our usual high standards on this occasion compared with the high standards we have set over the past 15 years for you. We acknowledge and accept the blame for your unfortunate experience on this occasion. We have investigated our failings in this event and we have spoken to our staff so as to ensure this does not happen again.
We are a family run hotel established over 45 years and we remain as committed as ever to offering the best in service and value to our loyal cliental. We are very proud of our roots from having grown from a small B&B to a multi award winning 4* hotel over that 45 year period and we know that we can only continue to improve by remaining equally committed to our principles of value and service. We therefore still take our failings with the greatest of seriousness.
Whilst I don’t wish to comment on other hotels, I feel that it is important to remember when comparing quotes that we are a 4* hotel and that you had quoted us on a superior deluxe rating as opposed to a standard rating when comparing rates. In addition, we like all hotels regularly run special offers which often lead to distorted price comparisons between hotels.
On behalf of the Whitty Family, I would like to take this opportunity to offer you our sincere thanks for your continued support over the past 15 years and we look forward to having the opportunity to exceeding your expectations in the future.

Kind regards,

Ronan Whitty
