Lovely castle, grounds and gardens well kept. Gorgeous lakes with lilies and flowers along the paths. Loved the peacock tearoom, great time at sunshine with the birds walking around. Entrance fee is 3 Euros, well worted.

“Fairytale Castle”
Reviewed May 23, 2012

Johnstown Castle is every little girls idea of what a fairytale castle is.

The castle, perfectly preserved and still in use today, is small and very beautiful. the gardens all around the castle are very well maintained and lead you to the lake with its flowers and water lilies and birds.

Johnstown Agricultural Museum is housed in outbuildings and this too is well worth a visit to see the old farm machinery, some of which is still in good condition.

A lovely day out for everyone and to have your picnic and just enjoy the country air.

“lovely walks around the grounds”
Reviewed May 15, 2012

Enjoyed wandering around Johnstown Castle grounds. The castle itself is very impressive and although it can be hired for weddings, unfortunately it's not open to the public. Didn't visit the museum but ate in the Peacock tearoom adjoining the museum. The scones and rhubarb tart were delicious. Good value for a modest fee.

“Lovely Gardens”
Reviewed May 11, 2012

These gardens are well worth a visit and when we were there, we were able to take a horse and carriage ride around them which was a great way to get an over-view. The lakes are especially attractive and it has appeal for all age groups. A very pleasant place for a summer picnic.
