“Really Nice Hotel”
Reviewed November 18, 2008

I booked in to stay 2 nights at the Fitzwilton hotel in Waterford. The hotel was ideally situated for me as i was getting the bus to waterford and the hotel was then only 5 minutes walk.
The hotel itself was very stylish & the rooms were very comfortable also. I didn't eat in the bar or the restaurant so i don't know what the food was like.
The only down side was there was quite a bit of noise from the street when i stayed there but that is hardly the hotels fault. All in all a a really nice hotel and i would reccommend it to anyone looking to stay in Waterford.

I stayed for three nights in this hotel. I found it ok. The rooms were nice and clean,. However there was some road noise in the room where I stayed, also the breakfast was not great. It looked as if there were not enough staff to keep the food toped up.
The location of the hotel was good. The parking was poor.

i booked the fitzwilton hotels penthouse suite as a anniversary gift for my partner. The reason i booked this hotel was because we had our first date in chez k's restaurant four years ago. working in a five star hotel myself i was disgusted with the way we were treated!

Firstly, we checked into the hotel about 4pm. Suite was beautiful at first, then we found a pack of fags and a lighter down the side of the sofa. There was three bulbs not working. Fire in the sitting room wouldnt turn on for us so i rang down to ask about it and the girl at reception said "i havent a clue about that". Then we went to use the jacuzzi and the knob for turning the water on fell off into my hand!!!! Then not one drop of water would come out, rang down to reception and they informed us the water would be off for a few hours, the plummers were in! so after spending 200 euro on a romantic suite we couldn't even use the jacuzzi!!

Then there's Chez k's!!!! very dissappointed!! Booked this table in august and asked for a very romantic table, and i was told it was booked for me! we were "greeted" by a very rude manageress, who said you can sit there... or there!!!! i was so very upset, we were shoved over beside the emergency exit, freezing!!! Mentioned it the the hotel manager, who used to run the original Chez k's and nothing was done!!! To end our romantic meal, our food was average and cost us 130!!!! was hotel food not chez k's standard!!!!

The following morning NO WATER!!!!!! could not have a shower or brush my teeth!!!! We were not informed of this yet again.

Breakfast then, awful service! So upset and disgusted at the way all these problems were dealt with! On checking out the guest beside my had her bill balance cleared, we on the other hand after paying 350euro for a night of hell did not even get an apology!!!

We stayed at the Fitzwilton for two nights at the beginning of October.
The reception staff were friendly and very helpful.
The hotel itself is in a very good location for the city centre, the room was well furnished, warm and spotlessly clean.
The breakfast was good with plenty of choice, if there was anything that you wanted but wasn't on show, fried eggs for example, you only had to ask the waitress and she got it from the kitchen.
All in all a very good hotel with excellent staff.
Only hiccup was we ordered an early morning call but never got one but no harm was done.
Would stay again maybe in the warmer months.

The Fitzwilton is in an ideal location and is just round the corner from the train station- which is the probably the best way to travel to Waterford.

It was a modern and glitzy place with the reception areas, bars and bedrooms being up to date. It was also very clean and I liked the toiletries in the bedrooms- even though the bedrooms were not the biggest they looked good, had everything that was required and were comfortable.

There are some nice restaurants in Waterford and so we decided not to eat dinner in the hotel. We had a snack from the Bar / Cafe which filled a hole and was reasonably priced.

To conclude I am pleased that I booked the Fitzwilton, it is on top of its game and it was delightful to be in Waterford having it as our base.

Really nice rooms, food and bar. Service in restaurant very slow, had to wait forty minutes for starters no apologies. Trying to get drinks to your table during dinner near impossible. We were not even offered a wine list. Overall we would go back as it was very clean and worth the money. Just watch out for the church bells give you a heart attack first thing in morning.
