We did part of this drive on a very, very, misty day. We couldn't find the Mahon waterfalls- perhaps the sign for the correct carpark was gone, & certainly the views were obstructed. But we did see a rock on the side of the road with MAGIC ROAD carved into in, near the Rag Tree (rather small, woody, covered in hanging 'offerings') We were a bit lost as to where to start, then realized that was the spot where you stopped the car & put it into neutral. Then the car starts going UP the road by itself, gaining some speed as it goes. The car finally stops by a 2nd Magic Road sign stone. We did it with the car turned both directions, & going backwards was really unnerving! We are 2 adults & we were squealing & laughing--imagine kids would really love it! I reckon if the day was better weather wise the views would be gorgeous- as it was it was lovely, with sheep on the road posing for photos, & wildflowers in bloom. I'd say the Magic Road is a must do even on a yukky weather day--it is an experience like no other!
