Dooleys is situated in a very central spot opposite the quays in Waterford, and within walking distance of a great selection of restaurants and shops. There's plenty of pay-parking across the road and when you're checking out from the hotel don't forget to ask for a parking disc. It currently costs €5.50 (January 2011) to park a car in the car park overnight but Dooleys will pay €2.50 of that charge for you. The hotel is clean and comfortable and very good value for money. Our room was warm and cosy and Dooleys provide a substantial breakfast if you want it, and continental breakfast with lots of fresh fruit and cereals, meats and cheese, if you that's what you like. Would recommend Dooleys without hesitation.

I didn't enjoy staying in this hotel at all. The staff were not very helpful. EVERY time we went back to our room our room key would not work. This meant we had to go back downstairs to get it fixed every time. The staff were not apologetic about this. They said it was our fault that we had the cards too close to our phones or money. However, I have stayed in other hotels were that was never a problem and never once had to get a card fixed. Also our room was much too warm even with the window open all night we couldn't sleep until late. We asked for help with this but we were told nothing could be done. Also, I dined in the hotel two nights and on the first night I asked the waiter if the side came free with the dish I was ordering. He sadi it did. However, when the bill came I was charged for this. When I told the waitress she said it was never free and only after I told her that I was specifically told that it was free did I get the price off the bill. The only positive I have about this hotel is the breakfast in the morning, which is well worth it. There is a huge selection of fried foods as well as continental breakfasts too choose from on a buffet. But overall, it was not enough to make it an enjoyable stay.

Overall we were very impressed with your establishment.

Check in/out was very efficient and your Receptionist really made a very good first impression. She was also very informed of the potential of the high tides due that weekend and advised us of suitable parking nearby.

The rooms were clean and bright. The saving/make-up mirror in the bathroom was a very nice touch (not always available in other establishments).

The meals we had consisted late lunch/dinner menu(After 3pm) and breakfast. The choice we felt was quite good and the food itself was lovely. The waiting staff (Barbera, I believe ) were very attentive without being intrusive. Again the same can be said of your Barstaff.

Although it was only an overnight stay, we were well impressed. I can say with certainty that when next we are in Waterford we will certainly be looking to stay with you again.

Apologies for not responding sooner.

My wife and I stayed here as part of a package tour of Ireland. Following a night in Dublin we stopped here on our way to County Kerry. While there is not much to do or see in the city of Waterford, this hotel did not disappoint for a stopping off point.

The rooms were very clean and the staff was quite friendly. The hotel overall was very quiet and had a comfortable atmosphere.

During our stay we had dinner at the hotel and it provided some good food on the dinner menu. I think the breakfast was better. They have good white and dark pudding here along with the rest foods you would normally see for a good Irish breakfast (Eggs, toast, yogurt, fruit, cereal, etc.). The lounge is also a nice place to relax after walking around the city. Drinks are reasonably priced and the Guinness is always good.

Overall I think this is a great place to stay if you are using Waterford as a stop over city. If you are lucky, as we were, you can check out the back room where frequently groups will meet for traditional Irish dancing. That was very fun to take in the music and see the dancing. It was a neat surprise to see!
