“One Night Stay”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

As part of a coach tour of the UK and Ireland, we two Brits and 33 Australians decended onto this hotel on the 19th June '13. According to the porter there are 114 rooms but we only found one lift. Our room, 28 was on the second floor and situated overlooking the street to the rear. We had a double and single bed in the room. The shower was fitted over the bath and anon slip bath mat was provided. There is only liquid soap provided but there was also a face cloth provided to aid application. A lot of hotels provide nothing. The room was clean and well decorated but there is some attention required to the little details ie, the four pillows on the double bed were all different: one white, one cream, one off white and one pink. The bath itself is due for a refurbishment and the television was an old analogue one which only provided a fuzzy picture. The tea and coffee making materials are on a tray in a cupboard under the televsion with the kettle wired into this position, a lot of bending required to make a 'cuppa'. Our dinner was of three courses with three choices on each, was well cooked, well presented and plentiful. Breakfast was buffet style and plentiful with coffee and toast placed on the tables of but tea had to be requested seperately. Over all a pleasant experiance.

Great location. Clean room and bathroom. Comfortable bed and pillows. Our room looked out into the little courtyard. Lobby was very elegant and comfortable. Staff were friendly. Food was very good - selection, quality.

This was our first trip to Ireland and we stayed at Dooley's Hotel and were warmly welcomed and treated wonderfully! It was clean and all the linens smelled beautiful! The breakfast at the restaurant was great and the dinner at the bar was fantastic! It is within easy walking distance of the attractions in Waterford City and right across the street from the River Suir! We had a great stay!

Stayed in this hotel when there was a football team visiting. The noise was disgraceful and we made a complaint to the management. NO RESULT. In the late hours of the night and early morning doors were continually banging , youths were running up the corridors and the management failed to address the problem.
Next morning I complained and expressed my opinion that this was ther porst hotel I had stayed in for many years. Later in the day we were contacted by management and given a 50% rebate. This was a nice gesture but did not alter the fact that the hotel was terrible

Room Tip: If you are staying at this establishment bring your ear plugs with you

My first priority with hotels is always location, and Dooley's is in a great place in Waterford. Right on the waterfront, it is within easy walking distance to anything you might want to see or do in the city. The bar was fine and the breakfast buffet in the morning served the traditional Irish breakfast, which was fun.

The best part was that there was an Irish dancing party in the ballroom the night we were there. Drawn by the music, we entered and asked an older gentleman near the door whether it was a private party. "My dear," he answered, "there's no such thing as a private party in Ireland." He swept me to the dance floor and partnered me in a traditional dance. I haven't had so much fun in a long time.

Our room was more than adequate, and the beds were comfy. I saw another review about the hair dryer, and I have to agree. It blows hot air, but the air pressure is very low. Luckily I have easily styled hair, but if your hairstyle really depends upon a blow dryer you might want to bring your own.

Stopped in last Sunday for a carvery lunch from the Bar, found it to be very slow service due to only one server/chef tending the food. Out of 10 in the food I'd give 5 for the Beef tenderness and a 3 for the turkey as it was warm not hot. The service was pretty slow waiting on desert for about 25 minutes only to be told their was no Jelly for the jelly & ice cream. I liked the fact that it was a comfortable and quite eating areaand the pace was very laid back
