This was an OK establishemnt - nothing fancy but quite acceptable. Situated on the watrefront although my room wasn't looking out that way. Staff were good as was the food. I would stay here again.

We arrived early after taking the overnight ferry, when we went into the hotel at 11am to just enquire about check in time the receptionist pulled out all the stops to get us into our room early. One of the owners introduced herself to us and made us feel very welcome.
Our stay was during the tall ships festival, a very busy period where Waterford had an estimated half a million visitors, despite the hustle and bustle in the hotel the staff were always extremely friendly, efficient and helpful.
We requested a room overlooking the waterfront and were happy to get one. It was on the first floor (and contrary to a previous reviewer my wife used the non existent lift to the first floor on a daily basis).
Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, the double glazing effectively blocked out any noise when we needed to rest.
I can't praise the staff enough for their 'Can Do' attitude, friendliness, speed and efficiency.
The Irish Breakfast and lighter options were delicious and plentiful and serving up to 10am is late enough if you want to have a lazy lie in.
Our only regret was that we missed the 'Emigrants Tale' Irish Show because we went to the Bryan Ferry concert (tickets obtained for us by the hotel) so we will have to catch this on our next visit. And we will visit again.
If you want 1st class professional service and a friendly welcome this is the hotel for you.

Room Tip: State your room requirements when booking and the hotel will try to meet them.

Stayed here for the "Tall Ships" week-end, expected inflated price for the event so can not complain about that although it was steep. the hotel was situated perfectly on the quay front and was ideal for Waterford town, rooms were very good, pub area lacked a little ambience though breakfast area was very nice as was breakfast. I would definately use this hotel again when back in Waterford

Dooley's Hotel is right on the front of the Quay in Waterford . The Hotel needs a complete revamp as the bedrooms are very dated and it is like travelling back into the70's when you entry the bedrooms . This hotel should be called the creaking floors Hotel as everywher you go the floor boards creak ... not very pleasant at night when the people in the room above you go into their room and all you can hear are the creaking sounds of floors . The decor in the bedrooms is drab, tired and very old I was even afraid to put my clothes into the wardrobes and dresser as it was so stained inside .
The door on the bathroonm could not close properly and as a result you had to yank it open .
The staff in the bar are very pleasant and efficent and always willing to help .
Full irish breakfast is served each morning and is very nice but finished serving too early in the morning at 10am especially if you are on a weekend break .. the hotel really needs to extend this in order for their guests to enjoy a lie in .
Receptionist were efficent when booking in and checking out we were on the first floor and there is no lift that goes to this floor nightmare with suitcases.
Parking is across the road on the Quay's and you can avail of a reduced rate if staying in the Hotel bit cheeky haing to pay 2.50euros everytime you take the car out of the car park .. surely parking should be free to all hotel guesst by the end of my three day stay i think it had cost me about 20.00euros on parking. Also thought it was very cheeky when I had checked out and taking the car out only to arrive back to the Hotel for lunch with my family that the girl at reception advises me that all the reduced parking disc's were gone ... not very nice considering we were having lunch there and spent maybe 100 euros on the food in the hotel and they could not afford me the curtosity of reduced parking .
All in all II would not stay in this hotel again.
Waterford really needs a good four star or five star hotel

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel if you like modern hotel this is very old and dated
