“An interesting visit to this small museum”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

After visiting the Waterford Crystal shop we wandered across the road to the Bishop's Palace museum. We got entry to the palace and the Medieval museum for €9 each being seniors! It was an interesting visit and we learnt a lot about the history of Waterford and surrounding areas. The rooms were well furnished and though we had trouble with the audio there were plenty of notes to read. The Medieval museum was literally next door and a short visit there was informative to us. All the staff were excellent in both museums.

“Historic Palace”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Spend time viewing the inside of this building - a lovely central historic place to visit. Close to Waterford Crystal/Reginald's Tower.

“Reliving a bygone age”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

The museum is housed in the former palace of the Church of Ireland, Bishop, in Waterford. In its day it will have been a sumptuous Georgian house, and one gets a real sense of that splendour of that time. Thanks to the system of tithes at that time, everyone had to pay them, even though the church represented only 10% of the population. The museum traces the history of the city of all the people in fantastic displays. There is so much to see that depicts the rich and varied history of the city. There is also an excellent café. The Church of Ireland cathedral is close by and it too is well worth visiting

“A lovely trip around the (relatively) recent past”
Reviewed November 24, 2013

The guide was both amusing and informative and brought me through a few hundred years of Waterford history up to almost the present day. To see a photo of my late father there was an added bonus

“Lovely artifacts, interesting rooms”
Reviewed November 20, 2013

Although not very large or even over the top impressive there are many lovely things to see and one can imagine what life might be like in that time frame. A good view of history of the era of late 1800's to early 1900's.
