The Granville's rooms were small but comfortable. This is an interesting hotel and we enjoyed learning a bit of the history. Thomas Francis Meagher (for whom the bar was named) was born at this location; his picture is located in the lobby, at the bottom of the stairs. He has a fascinating history in Ireland, followed by his participation in the American Civil War and ultimately serving as governor of Montana Territory.
Breakfast and dinner at the hotel was very good. Located on the river, we enjoyed the location and views. The staff was very helpful and pleasant.

My friends and I spent our very first night in Ireland at the Granville. The staff were all fabulous and friendly. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The view was amazing and the food was delicious. No complaints, would stay here again!

We stayed at the Granville for one night during the first week of September. The front desk staff could not have been any more helpful and polite. As well, the young man who carried our bags to the room was very nice and respectful, giving us thoughts on where to go to dinner. Sadly, we also has the displeasure of meeting one of the other staff members, a younger blonde girl with an extremely poor attitude. We happened to see her outside of the hotel later and tried to ask a question about directions in Waterford. To say she was rude would be an understatement. As well, I didn't find the bar staff to be very friendly either. It was our only night in Ireland (of 9) where I felt like we were unwanted tourists. Thankfully, the breakfast was good and the staff were extremely friendly. Our room was clean and in the end, we enjoyed more than we disliked, but would most likely try to find another hotel the next time we came to Waterford. Final thought, but just an FYI, Waterford the city closes down EARLY at night. We struggled to find a restaurant to eat at, with several major restaurants closed on a Monday night at 6PM. We walked for blocks before we found something.

Delighted you enjoyed more than you disliked on your recent visit to the Granville Hotel. The interaction with the staff was in the main a good experience however it’s frustrating and disappointing for the rest of the team to read that the interaction with others was unfriendly and another rude with poor attitude. We are all responsible for our own behaviour and no team member has the right to jeopardise the business by their attitude. I would like to say sorry on their behalf. Thankfully as you said breakfast was very good and the staff friendly and hopefully you will get to visit Waterford and the Granville Hotel in the future.

We stayed at this hotel on a CIE tour. We had a beautiful room on the 4th floor. The room was beautifully decorated.

The tour group ate dinner in the hotel. My salmon was excellent, but the desserts were so-so. The vegetables served with the meal were good and went beyond the usual carrots and potatoes.

the location is convenient to the old town and we enjoyed walking around before and after dinner.

If you are heading to Waterford, Ireland,, this historical hotel is a great place to stay. The staff is helpful, rooms are comfortable. Our double room even had a step-up seating area. Charming! The full course breakfasts are first-class and are included. The on site bar on the first floor was busy every night and seems to be where locals come to meet and greet. Can't think of anything negative. Loved it!

My wife and I stayed one night here on September 3rd and found the hotel and staff to be very nice indeed. The room was charming and the bed comfortable. Our room faced the street and there was some road noise with our windows open--but it caused us no concern--in fact as the cadence of the traffic became lighter as the night went on it actually seemed to help us get to sleep. If this noise would bother you then perhaps a room on the other side of the hotel would be better. The food was excellent--particularly the breakfast--has a very nice bar. Staff was very nice. We would definitely stay here again--the building has great history as well.

The Granville experience started when I booked our stay several months before; nothing but courtesy and professionalism. Since I would be celebrating my 60th birthday while there I hoped it would be special, and it was! If you're looking for modern don't look here; if you're looking for charm, tradition and history, this is the place. Perfectly situated in easy walking distance of all you want to see in Waterford (can leave car parked), overlooking the River Suir, ample public parking directly across the street (don't worry, the staff will get your luggage). But let's talk about what's important, their PUB! Oh my, how wonderful! Cozy, well staffed, great food and lots of folks (mix of locals & travelers), perfect pub atmosphere! This is where we spent my birthday, and I couldn't have asked for a better night. Next, the dining at the Granville, just lovely! The breakfast buffet was beautifully laid out for all to partake of and then you got to order...wow, great. We had a complimentary dinner and it was one of the best during our 22 days in Ireland. Thanks Granville for a memorable stay...we hope to see you again!
