The Waterford showroom is very impressive with lighting that really showcases the crystal pieces. I loved the factory tour - great getting to see the craftsman starting the pieces from scratch.

Bring your wallet, if you are planning a trip to Waterford Crystal! We decided to take the train from Heuston Station in Dublin to Waterford (2013/Sep/19). After a 2 hour trip, we disembarked at the Waterford Station (Plunkett) and walked to Waterford Crystal which wasn’t all that far. The cost of the train by the way was 30.50 euros round trip per person.

The tour of the factory floor was very interesting and informative, well worth the cost of admission. We were not disappointed. Of course, all tours usually end at the gift shop and Waterford is no exception except that their “Gift Shop” is very sparkling high end. Nonetheless, we found some hanging ornaments and a beautiful picture frame to bring home (total cost about 132 euros). Other customers bought much larger items and Waterford Crystal will ship those items for a cost which, according to some, was reasonable.

All in all, it was a good experience and we still had some time left to tour Waterford itself, including a meal, before catching the second to last train back to Dublin.

On Sunday, 22nd September 2013 we visited Waterford Crystal. Waterford Crystal's factory was moved some time ago but some of the older workers have stayed and moved to it's current location. The tour was fantastic to see glass made into the gorgeous cut glass that Waterford crystal stands for. Only the very best Waterford crystal is made in Ireland now. The tour takes about 30-45 minutes and you are able to get very close to the workers to see in detail how the crystal is cut. They had made a Grandfather Clock which glittered with the lighting on to it. I think it was valued at £40,000.
Following the tour we were able to buy Waterford Crystal in the very large shop. There were quite a lot of staff ready to talk about the crystal and where it was made, as most is made abroad now. The whole shop is lighted by crystal lighting and looked gorgeous. We stayed in the shop about an hour and bought various pieces. There was a teddy bear which I saw and as I collect Steiff Teddy Bears from Germany I just had to have this Waterford Lead Crystal glass Bear, it is being made specially for me and will take a couple of months to arrive, I cant wait.
