Description: Listed in The McKenna Guide Best 100 Restaurants in Ireland 2014.In the heart of Waterford City is a restaurant that champions the local food experience. Vaguely Spanish in decor with a funky eclectic mix of food and ambiance that may well be described as Mediterranean. Most definitely, not a conventional Irish restaurant experience. Critics and regulars alike acknowledge this place is fun and different. With early bird menus from €20, this is an affordable treat in a relaxed atmosphere. But it's worth persevering according to the critics:" With its warm Mediterranean colour, this place would bring the sun out on the darkest of days" Georgina Campbell "Much loved menu that hits all the right buttons" The Irish Times"It's a dream vision of owners - Cormac & Donagh - who stamp their left field imprimatur on the excellent food & the fine drinks that make folk flock here in their droves" John & Sally McKenna"Bodega! Gives the taste of the med, and also the vigour & joie de vivre of the med" Bridgestone Guide

We are never disappointed when we come to Bodega, everything is delicious! We eat here regukarly and it never gets boring! The food is always fantastic! I LOVED the popcorn ice cream- I actually selected this fiRst before my mains or starter! Goat's cheese tart is my favourite dish here and its always the same but different each time I get it! Worth every penny!

A step below fine dinning but above a cafe experience, Bodega provides great value for money and the food is excellent quality. There are some great tables by the window and the whole place as a very calm feel to it. Definitely family friendly.

The staff here clearly love what they do and that shows in the service and the quality and presentation of the food. Would highly recommend.

I visited the Bodega with a family friend in July 2013. We had the fish of the day -a white fish which was fresh and cooked to perfection. A disappointment was the accompanying carrots which were bullet hard - a consequence of being undercooked. Service was overall good but there was limited response to the uneaten carrots on both our plates. Asked was everything ok (obviously it was not) we suggested that it might be a good idea to draw the undercooked nature of the carrots to the attention of the chef. There was no real reaction to this from the waitress and I got the feeling that this may be the way veggies are served - if so its a very bad choice. A white wine by the glass was good and reasonable and the desert fine.

This is the third time I have eaten in the bodega on visits to Waterford. I have always found it a good choice a shank of lamb being the best dish I have tried. On each occasion there was a warm and informal atmosphere which added to the dining experience. It is nearly always busy - so it is a good idea to book in advance especially at weekend. On this occasion the "bullets" shoot down an excellent rating, however 4/5 is still merited taking into account previous positive experiences. Hopefully on the next occasion I visit the veggies will get the same attention as the fish/meat - proprietors note they are equally important.

Very disappointing service and food. We ordered fish cakes and goat's cheese tartlet for starters and broad bean risotto served with quail eggs and bacon, and a fish pie for main course. The goats cheese tartlet was delicious, but after that everything disappointed terribly. The fish cakes were dry and salty; the risotto contained 4 broad beans and a sliver of bacon. It was made using ... CREAM! What was that about? The fish pie was a very expensive potato pie and after considerable searching ... 4 pieces of miniscule fish were identified. What a joke ... And an expensive one at that! Don't waste your money and time.
