The Glasshouse certainly looks the business from the outside: a light-catching wedge of glass overlooking the bend in the Garavogue River. The ambience of ultra-modern chic continues with the avant gardé decor on the inside. Enough on its good looks: how does it measure up as a place to stay? Pretty darn good. Clean. Comfortable beds with duvets. Large rooms. Lots of hot water. Nice bathroom with all the usual condiments. Very fluffy bath towel, that was a welcome surprise. Two bottles of complimentary water, too, another perk. Lovely buffet breakfast, most everything you could want, either cold or hot. Free internet.
All I can do is nitpick a litte bit. In the rooms, internet is only via an ethernet cable; a bit old tech! Certainly no good for an iPad. Wi-fi in the lobby and restaurant. A bit of traffic noise from the outside, but not a lot, and very quiet for most of the night. Didn't hear a peep from neighbors: quiet neighbours or good walls? Cannot say. The lifts are rather slow. The shower is great, but if you want a bath, you'd be forever filling the tub. As you can see, the most minor of complaints.
Check-in staff were lovely and chatty. All in all, a very pleasant experience. As good as any Radisson Blu hotel, and better value.More
