Great family restaurant. Staff were very charming and entertained the young children. The place is small so you will have to book on a busy weekend night. Food was good. The burgers are homemade and the pasta is freshly prepared. Good selection of pizzas. The wine list is small but adequate

“Wonderful restaurant; wonderful service”
Reviewed August 19, 2014

I've just returned from a trip to Sligo to take in the Fleadh Cheoil. The Fleadh is a big music festival so the whole town had been taken over by 1,000s of people. One of our concerns was finding somewhere good to eat as many restaurants will forego quality to increase profits during this exceptionally busy time.
Finding Simona and his team at Rugantino was therefore an absolute blessing. After an excellent meal off their reduced menu on the first night, our party of 8 arranged to go back the following night; Simona agreed to fit us in at 1930 and even allowed us to order "off-piste". 5 excellent Fillet Steak's and (I'm told) the "best Saltimbocca" awaited our arrival. Simona matched our meal's with some beautiful wine and managed to make time for us through all the madness of the Fleadh. The staff were happy, polite & attentive yet never over-bearing, Perfetto!
We had kids with us as well and the menu catered for the whole party. It's only a small venue, the fact the kitchen is bigger than the dining area speaks volumes for the passion they put into their food. We ended up eating here for the 3 nights we were in the town, the quality remained the same throughout.
Only hope we can visit again during a normal time and try the A la Carte menu!

My Mum & I have travelled to various places in Italy but both of us were truly impressed with the food & wine that we had on the 9/08/14 in this treasure of a restaurant in Sligo.

We shared Italian tapas for two for the starter-very appetizing. My Mum had Fritto Misto & a side salad of fried potato & aubergine for main course which was cooked to perfection & reportedly mouth-watering. I had the Risotto special of the day and was very content with it despite my Mum repeatedly saying 'wow' while eating hers! We washed the meal down with the house bottle of Italian white wine which was lovely and reasonably priced.

However, we discovered the piece de résistance was in fact the Tiramisu which we shared & devoured between us. Simply, the best tiramisu we've both had. We gave our compliments to that particular chef. Overall, we felt that the meal was very reasonably priced for the quality of the food & authenticity of the Italian dishes. Needless to say, we are plotting our return trip to this gem of a restaurant!

Very happy with this restaurant, have used the takeaway options many times but this is the first time I have dined within. Clean, cheerful staff and fantastic food. The pricing is spot on too, and great value as the quality and presentation of the food is top notch. I will be returning!

“Very Very Good”

What a great little find this was. We had an excellent meal here a few days ago. All our dishes were cooked to order and were light and vibrant and the pasta was al Dente. This little gem is probably the best Italian meal I have had in the last 15 years, safe to say I would be happy to return the next time I am in Sligo and would recommend to all.
