Inishmurray Island
Reviewed May 7, 2012

Celtic living at the edge of old world!

The ruined village remined me of St Kilda, the passage between the mainland and the island, called Innismurray sound, is very dangerous to vessels making the passage to windward, with the wind from the west; for there are reefs extending from the mainland to the southward, where even in moderate weather is a heavy short sea. Two miles north of the island is the Boahinsky rock, always above water, at about a cable's length from the east side of which is a rocky ledge, and about a quarter of a mile to the west a dry rock

A place to go for a day if you want to get away from shops and traffic. Beautiful and peaceful.
