“Worth the effort ”
Reviewed December 30, 2013 via mobile

Ben Bulben is majestic and the views from it on a clear day are truly memorable. It is worth the effort of the climb. There are many routes to choose from and these vary in difficulty so it is worth researching the choices and taking the one best aligned to your ability. Whatever the approach, the top will reward your efforts.

“Lovely hike”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

We took advantage of a clear morning to get out and enjoy a good hike. The Benbulben forest loop was a lovely short hike with amazing views, good for our group of ten who ranged in age from four to seventy-four. This hike was much more leisurely than our climb up to Medbh's Cairn the next day.

“wonderful iconic mountain”
Reviewed November 20, 2013

This famous and fabled mountain rises dramatically from the coastal plain of north Sligo in a steep semi curved sweep to a flat topped plateau, reminiscent of Cape Town's Table mountain and dominates the stunning landscape for miles around. It is a wonderful spectacle and changes shape and colour elusively as you progress northward along the coast. It is the main northern landmark of Sligo Bay and together with Knocknarea to the south gives Sligo its uniquely dramatic location.

“The Homecoming Mountain”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

Ben Bulben near Sligo is an impressive bulk of mountain. When travelling in the surrounding areas this mountain greets you from far. Recognizing it's distinctive shape gives you always the feeling of being close to home again. The "Halfdome" of Ireland. Absolutely fantastic!
