“Nice pub food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2014 via mobile

Myself and the missus stopped off here for a bite after shopping. There weren't many seats (usually a good sign), but we found a table down the back. I had the chicken & chips with honey mustard which was delicious. Herself being a picky eater couldn't find anything on the menu, so she asked the waitress if she goujans and she kindly obliged. Food was very nice for a pub and staff were friendly. We were only waiting 10 mins from order until the food arrived. Can definitely recommend.

“How many other pubs do you know...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2014

with a direct connection to wine producers in France's Languedoc? Great wine... along with great beers....

This pub is not only beautiful, old, polished wooden enclosed spaces to eat, plus separate bar areas, both inviting, and a big long table in the front bar for those who want to talk... but Hargadons has one of the best chefs we've encountered. It's the perfect place, a gastro-pub that doesn't call itself that... but it is, and it's a bistro, and we had knowledgeable, friendly service... best dish was the duck confir over blueberry-flavored red cabbage with a few slices of tasty sauteed potato...(see photo).

“Menu needs to be revamped! ”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2014 via mobile

I've been coming here for years so at this stage I'm fairly tired of their evening menu. It really needs to be changed a little. If you don't eat fish you've a far smaller selection. They do change the special but it's usually fish. I feel their menu caters more for what they think tourists like.
I like their lunch menu. Better selection.
Wish they'd allow the lunch menu to be served in the evening! Place far too quiet no music in background you can hear everyone's conversations and yesterday there were a couple playing a match live on their phone. Quite annoying as you're trying to eat and chat. Food is very good just need to diversify it a little! The waiters are very helpful and polite.
