if you happen to be in sligo and contemplating where to eat, don't even bother looking for anywhere else. Hargadon Bros is definetly in my top 5 places to eat, without a doubt. Could not fault it in any way, the food is to die for, the staff are extremely friendly, and the decor is a great representation of the old irish pub scene! its an ideal spot for locals or tourists, even if you're from ireland! i would highly recommend it to anyone, and i would recommend trying the restaurants goat's cheese dish.. simply amazing!!

“A step back in time”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2012

This was always one of THE drinking holes in Sligo, sensibly even though the family who owned it sold it and was acquired by others Hargadon's has remained as it was...an Irish country pub and one time grocery. The drink in here tastes better than any theme pub, because the ambiance of the place has remained. The introduction of a good pub grub menu doesn't interfear with the basic order here...that of serving good drink & good food in surroundings that are fast dissapearing. There is a fine old wooden counter, suitably porter stained and good 'snugs' for those who like privacy. The menu varies from day to day, I had roast beef, pots & veg for €10 and was very pleased with the fare on offer, my wife had fish with mash & veg €10 also. This is a pub in the tradition of public houses, put it on your must visit card when in Sligo.

“Amazing food, atmosphere and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2012

The family ate in this pub two days in a row. The pub has lovely private booths and a window snug where you can enjoy a drink and delicious food. The seafood and confit of duck particularly were a hit with our young sons. The desert of chocolate brownie was very good. Staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. If only more places in Ireland could provide this quality of food and not a frozen chip in sight! Highly recommended and surprisingly good value.
