“In The Middle Of The Middle”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2014

The Tullamore Court Hotel is far from the usual Irish tourist track. It's in the very middle of the country, midway between Dublin and Galway, between Cork City and Belfast. Thus it's ideal for business meetings, at which it excels. But the Tullamore Court offers much more too for it's guests: play golf, explore the ruins of nearby Clonmacnoise Abbey or the famous Bog of Allen, visit family, or for Irish families on a short break with the kids, a chance to relax while still having plenty to keep the kids busy. It's located in Tullamore but on the edge of the busy town center, less than a10 minute walk from the enclosed shopping mall, other shops and some good Tullamore restaurants.
Rooms are very spacious and very clean. Bathrooms actually have room to turn around in, unlike many European bathrooms. Satellite TV on flat screens is another nice feature after a day of golf, touring or visiting. Free Wi-Fi in all rooms helps to keep up with the latest at home and in the world, although reception on the top floor can fade in and out. The Court is a friendly place in the great tradition of rural Ireland. Staff will go out of their way to please. The main restaurant serves a delightful full Irish breakfast, both buffet and cooked to order. The restaurant seems to be open only sporadically in the evenings. A sign with opening hours would be helpful. It's almost not important, however, since the bar/pub area is very spacious and serves excellent food from sandwiches to full meals. There are plenty of tables and lots of room to spread out, both inside and in the very nice enclosed outdoor garden. The bar is well stocked with all your Irish favorites, including Tullamore Dew whiskey which began it's storied history here in town.
For the exercise-minded there are workout areas and equipment, for the business people, there is a business center. For all there is a very nice indoor pool with accompanying hot tub, jacuzzi etc.Staff are more than happy to arrange for golf at nearby courses as well.
Tullamore is about 60 miles from Dublin, less than an hour by train, so it's far enough to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city. But it's close enough to spend the day in Dublin and then come back for a relaxing evening in the pool, the pub or both.
The other important fact not to be omitted is price. This is a legitimate 4 Star hotel with 2-3 Star Hotel prices. If you're in the area, you'll not do better than the Tullamore Court.

Deceptively enchanting place. To be honest, I don't like the architectural aesthetics of the outside. All is forgiven inside... The ambiance inside is wonderful, the staff in particular are really nice and helpful. The food is exceptional in the restaurant but the service of the bar food falls down in the delivery time, had to wait a while.
The leisure centre is wonderful and the staff are very accommodating, the changing rooms are tight for space which is a pity but on balance the experience in the leisure area was nice.
Would I return? Yes!!

On an overnight stay first thing is a printed notice advising guests to be quiet going to and leaving rooms- a sign of things to come- doors banging and slamming and this was the afternoon-food in restaurant was first class and staff very friendly- go to bar almost impossible to get served and some unwelcoming staff -only some- then the door banging and slamming still going on at 3 o'clock in the morning- one member of the breakfast staff when asked for a tea spoon was put out to be asked and when she came back she says is four enough in a seriously rude way- Lovely hotel lovely food but get some friendly staff- never again would I go to this hotel

Room Tip: Don't book

Booked for one night, when travelling through Ireland. Nice meal in the restaurant and very good breakfast. All staff were friendly and helpful. The pool and steam room were great although sauna could do with a refurb. Would recommend and stay there again

We spent 4 nights and found it impossible to get the children to leave the hotel they loved it so much. We were especially lucky to get one of the end rooms (164) that had a little seated area with lovely windows which gave the adults a bit of space while the kids were in the main area. The bathroom had a big bath and separate huge shower so loads of room. Breakfasts are plentiful and the staff are all extremely nice. Brigit in the bar (I think she is a manger) was brilliant, legendary Irish hospitality personified! I have to give a special mention to the staff in the leisure centre. They ran a children's club every day and my two (age 7 & 9) loved it. The pool itself is spotless and very well supervised. Overall a brilliant break, we will be back again

Room Tip: Room 164 is big

We were at a family celabration last week in the Tullamore Court Hotel. The courtesy, efficiency, and friendliness that we received was second to none.
Our bedrooms were very comfortable and clean. The food was delicious and served by most helpful staff.
Will definitely be back.
