The ancient monastic settlement at Clonmacnoise is worth a visit both for the beauty of the location and the historical aspects of the site. Best on a warm dry day with no wind but these are rare like hens' teeth west of the river Shannon. However we went on a cool windy November day and still enjoyed our visit. If you are in the area it is a must. Enjoy.
