The Castlecourt Hotel
Ranked #5 of 13 Hotels in Westport
Certificate of Excellence

Our annual gaa club trip this year took us to the Castlecourt. We had a 40 strong party of varying ages and from the moment we arrived the staff could not have been any nicer. Check in was done in a matter of minutes as one of the girls at reception came to our coach to dispense key cards and room numbers. On Saturday night we all dined in the restaurant and given our fairly large numbers, service was excellent and the food was of a very high standard. Staff shortage is definitely not an issue at this busy hotel as service in all departments was extremely prompt. If you are visiting Westport I would have no hesitation in recommending the Castlecourt.

We stayed here for a Saturday evening and had not booked. The hotel is quite big -bigger than you would think from the street with good underground parking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel seems to be a very busy wedding venue but it is kept away from the main hotel. The room was nice and clean. The bathroom could do with some love as it was not cleaned very well and the fittings were a bit weathered. The water made a terrible noise when running. Overall though it was good and we slept well. The breakfast was very disappointing. There was a cold buffet and you have to order your breakfast from a server. The only place I would expect to be served would be at a B&B, not a hotel - and not a 4 star hotel. When the breakfast came out it was VERY hot. If getting served breakfast and not from a buffet I would expect the breakfast to be of a higher quality (better sausages for example) but there was nothing special about it. The fried eggs were hard and dry, the sausages small and generic. The toast was cut in to strange shapes as if they couldn't decide on a triangle or rectangle... which made us laugh. Overall the breakfast was a big let down, but the hotel is nice. From our experience it wasn't a 4 star hotel and the room was a bit over priced for the experience we received. Overall though a nice enough hotel. If they did a proper buffet hotel breakfast I would stay here again, but not if the breakfast we received is the norm.

This was a lovely location and Westport is a beautiful place. We asked for a quiet room and we were in a very quiet area in the rear area of the 3rd floor. The grounds and location were all you could ask for and the food was excellent. Service could not be better than wee enjoyed there

Room Tip: This was a lovely location and Westport is a beautiful place. We asked for a quiet room and we were...

Went with 2 friends for a few nights away. The room was big, 2 singles and a double with lots of space, really comfy beds!!. Hotel was lovely, we ate at the sister hotel Westport Plaza in the bar. Meals were good. The staff arn't over friendly.
Used the Spa (Sula) which has amazing facilities. Unfortunately there was a hen party who wouldn't shut up talking, not very relaxing.. I did mention this at check-out at the Spa and I was told I could go back the next day which was really nice. I must mention the Therapist Aoife, who was absolutely brilliant with the reflexology. Cant praise her highly enough, shes a credit to the hotel
Went to Foxford Woollen Mills in Foxford Approx 3/4hr away - excellent self guide tour of the history of the mill.. Also stopped off for tea at the Newport House hotel, lovely grounds,

My parents went on a fantastic Golden Years Break the week of 17 June. Never having been to Westport before they didn't know what to expect but had heard great reports about the town. I saw the deal on the hotels website and thought it would suit them as it included evening meals which would appeal to them after a day out and about exploring Westport and surrounding area's. They were thrilled both with Westport and the hotel. They reported the accommodation as being very comfortable, excellent food, helpful staff and great entertainment. They enjoyed music, dancing, a comedienne and bingo as part of their night time entertainment. Such was the success of their stay that they are looking forward to going again.

Checked in, what a hassle, as it was late in the day, folks leaving, folks coming, much chaos.

Got two rooms for party of 5. Headed to room 1... Found it to be already occupied, what a fright we gave to the kids in the room. We got the room straightened out, all is well.

Went to room 2, door was not latched or locked, wide open room. Needed the maintenance guy to come by the next day and repair. All is well.

Where are the washcloths? Are they out, awed in Ireland ? Got some from the front desk.

Had planned to climb Croagh Patrick, but got trumped by the majority who did not want to use a full dy of our visit to climb this rocky hill... No luck arguing, we stayed in town and wandered about, took all of an hour to cover the whole town.

We headed out walking to Westport House, but the heavy rain turned us back after a half mile... Hmmm, running out of things to do... Head for the pub, find a seat, order a Guinness! Seemed to be the fallback position for Ireland.

Hotel is ok, but miss the smaller and more personal B&B's.... Guess I am now used to them. Food for breakfast was ok.

Room Tip: Make sure it is not already occupied. Don't come on a holiday week. Ask for a larger room!

Stayed in this hotel after a wedding recently and you cannot improve on excellence. I could not fault the hotel, food or staff. I stayed in a twin room and there were 2 single beds and a double bed. Most comfortable stay. Will be back. Kathleen
