We loved the drive from Westport through Newport with the fabulous green way partnering us. Achill's scenery is small mountains and raised bogs, very open with wide views all round. The Architecture respects the scenery for the most part, particularly its unique bowley houses. The main settlement of Keel has pleasant stopping spots for shopping and coffee while maintaining its tranquility and open views of the sea. The sea makes the trip first rate because of the outstanding cliff scenery in two places, one on the Atlantic Drive and also by the spectacular Keem bay, such a pleasant gentle way to spend a day with loads of picnic spots.
