We booked the Abbeywood as we were attending a friend's wedding in Westport. We were on quite a strict budget so stayed in this hostel. Before arriving I was a bit concerned as we don't normally stay in hostels anymore and I was worried about potential standards- how wrong I was!! This was better than a lot of hotels and we had a great time. The receptionist was helpful and friendly; our room was large, spotless and the bed was INCREDIBLY comfortable - I slept like a baby. The showers were also very clean (there are no en-suite facilities). There is a lovely, cosy lounge area and a large, clean kitchen. The breakfast was basic, being just bread and jams, but for the price (EUR50 for a double room) this was not a big issue! Would definitely stay here again if returning to Westport.

Its situation, set in off the road in its own grounds makes it hard to believe it's so close to the centre of town. Come see us! ... more less
