“Very manageable for even the amateur cyclist!”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

Cycled from Westport to Newport recently found the track in excellent condition and very manageable even for the amateur cyclist. Apart from one or two hills coming out of Westport the rest of the track is very level. Really enjoyable afternoon spent in rural Mayo!

“The Very Good Western Greenway”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

A modest cycleway in terms of length, by international standards, but by Irish standards, a monumental achievement!
Not perfect, due to short on road and uphill sections, but well finished and scenically routed, for the most part. A pioneering project for the west, and hopefully one, which will be imitated elsewhere.

“Perfect day out :-)”
Reviewed January 20, 2013 via mobile

I highly recommend this wonderful activity. My boyfriend and I did it one saturday afternoon. Took us three and a half hours and was not a huge amount of effort. If you can't manage the whole 44km definitely do the Newport to Mulranny leg, it's by far the most beautiful part. Do bring water and some small snacks though as there aren't many shops on the way. We rented our bikes from clew bay bicycles. The lads were very nice and helpful and the lift home afterwards was great value for just a €20 rental. Have fun!

“The greatest development in the west!”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

This is a fantastic asset. Such a joy to cycle on, especially for families with small children. Lovely to see so many using it. Looking forward to the day when the entire route to Achill is off road!
