“Fell sort of expectation”
Reviewed June 9, 2014

We had really been looking forward to our trip to Westport House but were quite disappointed. Firstly when we arrived we were told that we could do none of the Adventure items as they were fully booked for school tours but that everything else was available. We enjoyed the lake trip on the pedal boat and Westport house was lovely (although one of the rooms was unavailable because there was a meeting on) but again we were disappointed when we went to do pot painting because we were told this isn't available until July/August.
The children enjoyed the roller coaster and the swing boat in Pirate Adventure and slide but these ended up being the only things that we could do for the day. Finally we found out at 2.30 that all these facilities close at 3pm.
At €60 for 2 adults and 2 children we felt that it was a very expensive day out.

“The wall was built to keep people out in the famine”
Reviewed June 9, 2014

The wall around Westport House is impressive. Local yore says it was built, or at least, reinforced during the great famine.

I wonder if the 'heritage centre' or 'pirate park' gives any clarification of that?

“good but pricey”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

The activities are good but the overall price is too high for a family. Our two yr old couldnt use some of the activities, she was too small. The house is worth a visit but no access for buggy. My husband had to wait at the front with our sleeping 1yr old.

“good for small kids”
Reviewed June 7, 2014

We went here last August, weather wasn't great, but we had a great day out. Our 3 year old loved the train that goes past the monkey's who change the points. The water-rollercoaster is for older kids (5/6+), and it's great. Prices were not cheap but not that bad considering.

“Seems expensive but worth the money”
Reviewed June 2, 2014 via mobile

An interesting take on the legendary pirate and home of Granuaile. The beautiful grounds of this old house are home to some great adventure tourism for all ages including Zorb, zip line and lots more. The kiddie side is very well looked after with plenty of mini adventures to keep them happy for most of the day. Even the tour if the house had a quiz to keep the children interest through the history until the arrival in the dungeon and the hall if mirrors.
A little on the expensive side but all in all it is worth it. One suggestion though, bring a picnic to save on the extra expense.
