“Fabulous stay in Westport”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2014

This was our second time staying at Knockranny House and we loved it every bit as much as the first time. We were lucky enough to stay for 5 nights this time and had some wonderful dinners in La Fougere restaurant.
We opted for a tower suite this time, which was very spacious with a four poster bed, separate sitting area and stunning views of Croagh Patrick. Totally relaxing.
I am still not a fan of the breakfast menu, but that is just being picky as the dinners are so good.
There is so much to do in Westport and the surrounding areas that I still did not get time to use the spa. So I will have to return again:-)

Room Tip: A room with a view of Croagh Patrick

Had a very enjoyable few days in Knockranny, would def recommend Hotel
Pros
Room was big and spacious and the king bed was super comfy.
Staff were very professional and gave us excellent service during our visit.
Food is excellent, def 5 star standard. The breakfast was particularly good.
Location.Westport is a lovely town with plenty to see and do. Hotel is a 2 min drive outside town centre.

Some minor points. I have been to better spas. Monsoon shower didnt work and had to go back into changing room for shower after sauna etc. Temp in pool is 2 degrees colder than standard leisure pool,a bit chilly for my personal taste. The attention to detail is missing in a few areas of the the spa but would not take much work to improve.
Staff uniforms in hotel looked grubby and dirty which can take away from their professionalism
Hotel has an old world classic theme and may not be everyones cup of tea.

Overall majorly postive enjoyable stay and would stay again

Spent a day in this luxurious hotel three weeks ago and it really blew me away. From the scrumptious seafood chowder in the bar overlooking Croagh Patrick on arrival, to the pampering delights in the wonderfully serene Spa Salveo to the Michelin standard evening meal in La Fougere, this hotel really exceeded my mother's and I expectations in many mays. The only problem was we did not spend long enough there. Looking forward to returning to Knockranny very soon. Staff are fantastic as well.

A group of us stayed here The last weekend in June. We were having a relaxing weekend for my hen party. The rooms were stunning. The bar was great fun. The food in the restaurant was amazing. There were two weddings on over the weekend but the hotel is big enough to accommodate wedding party and others comfortably. I had treatments in spa salveo and it along with the pool area is just a haven of relaxation. I love this hotel so much, my husband to be and I are going to come back in a few weeks to spend part of our honeymoon here.
Have been here several times before and it never disappoints.

Stayed for a convention in hotel. Family stayed in room that was truly opulent and huge!!
Westport is one of those places that any international traveller should visit. It epitomizes all that Irish tourism represents, lush landscapes, gourmet food, a broad smile and a kind word at every turn. This hotel is superb. The food, the staff, the service are all excellent. I could not find a single fault over our two day stay here. It certainly ranks in my top three hotel experiences.

Room Tip: Family room superb

This hotel was recommended to us by friends who are well travelled and discerning. It measured up to and exceeded our expectations. Quiet location. Bedroom and bathroom very generous in size. Very well serviced and ckean.Excellent breakfast make sure to try the granola and the scrambled egg and smoked salmon! Service very prof though very friendly and not rushed. Garry in particular. Spa worth a visit too. We will def return there. Excellent value for money and did not disappoint

stayed for two nights, stunning views but no seats outside from which to enjoy the view and we had great weather a missed opportunity on their part. first night ate in the restaurant hubby went for three course I only wanted main meal but they tried to overcharge us by 35 euro, as thought we had ordered off menu. Food was tiny in portion and very bland I asked for lamb well cooked which came rare and my husband's steak was tough. Bacon for breakfast was rubber with no taste but black and white puddings are excellent as is the brown bread. far better to eat in the bar better priced and very tasty however again they tried to overcharge us as my meal was included in the spa treatment and they still charged us. The spa experience was very good though

Room Tip: high room with a view although I think they all have a view.
