Michael and his colleague Eamon were extremely helpful both in the run up to our stay and while we were there - dealing with any queries very quickly and courteously. The house was brilliant for our group of friends - and being by the beach was ideal for all of us, especially the three small children who were with us. We also made good use of the cinema screen and projector - watching a film most evenings as a close to the day. Westport and Louisburgh offer different experiences, shopping, restaurants and music in the former and wonderful beaches not far from the latter. There's a great co-operative bookshop in Louisburgh too. Altogether a great holiday and I've a feeling we'll be back!
We stayed in lagan house for my mum's 70th birthday. 16 of us aged between 1 and 70 and we are still speaking . I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. The setting is beautiful and the house is so well appointed. Eamon and Michael go the extra mile to ensure your stay is the best possible. We had beautiful fresh bread delivered to the door. The whole family want to thank them for the hospitality. If your looking for a family get away for all ages lagan house is a must.
We stayed at Lagan House for a week as a family for a birthday celebration get together. The house is beautiful and the scenery is amazing. The owner was so friendly and accommodating and we were met with such a warm welcome. We were lucky to get some good weather so walks along the beach, which is a short stroll away, was an added bonus. We would definitely recommend this property and we are hoping to return next year!!!
We had 12 people at one time stay and Lagan House and less at different times. The house was perfect! The location was beautiful, the caretakers and owner were accessible and always available if needed. We had several loaves of homemade Irish breads delivered for our group weekly. The view was incredible. I would highly recommend Lagan House to anyone!
We arrived at Lagan on the afternoon of May Bank Holiday & stayed for 6 nights.
It was a fantastic holiday & we all fell in love with the place. The house is in superb condition with ample room for our 8 adults & 5 children. The proximity of Old Head Beach is great & the children had a ball.We ate at the house everynight & the open plan space was ideal. We will definitely be back again.
The forecast wasn't great for the weekend (it was May bank Holiday). But our hearts lifted when we arrived at Lagan where Eamon met us and showed us the whole, wonderful, place. Six bedrooms. Televisions everywhere. And a wonderful kitchen come dining come sitting room with views of Old Head and Croagh Patrick. We ate in and it was just great. The beach, Old Head, is just a stroll down the lane from the house, so despite it not being warm, we spent part of the next day there. There were 11 of us, six adults and five children. And we could have taken another few as well, comfortably!! We explored - did Westport House, went to the harbour, and the extraordinary drive to Leenaun. It is close to being the best and most beautiful, spectaculal, breathtaking drive in Ireland. And we knew that, always, we'd be back in our beautiful house at night. That's where we ate mostly. The equipment in the house is the best money can buy. Top of the range. Everything. And while Westport is a beautiful, friendly, unspoiled town, Louisburgh is equally welcoming. And at last there's an ATM there! We'll be back here. Great place, and great value. One of our best breaks ever.
This was our 22nd year of Easter celebratory gatherings. In that time we've stayed in numerous 'first class' establishments...and regrettably a few in the 'just OK' category. Lagan is most definitely in the former camp - superb ! Bright, spacious, modern, minimalist (in a no-fuss kind of way) and stylish, this property offered real comfort which sealed 6 days of indulgent relaxation for all 10 of us ! We ate in only for breakfast and a 'Gala Dinner' - the kitchen is very well equipped, the laundry room functional and the dining arrangements accommodated us with ease. The beds were uber comfortable, the lounge area allowing panoramic views over to Achill, Croagh Patrick and the sea. We will have to return in the Summer to experience the fantastic BBQ area... WiFi is great ; in fact this is a high tech property - certainly a technophobe could be a little overwhelmed by the modernity of the place ! Michael the Owner is a delight to deal with - responsive, considerate and intent on providing a memorable experience for his 'guests'. Eamon who manages the property was on hand to welcome us. Margaret remained in the background but she 'keeps' a super clean accommodation. And let's not forget John (?), Michael's brother who turned up on our doorstep with 2 deliciously hot loaves of wheaten bread. Heaven !
