As long as you are inside the building looking out the views are terrific. How did they get permission to put up something so out of place in this beautiful wilderness?
The facilities and staff are very good however and I enjoyed the exhibitions. Excellent cakes in the Café and very friendly staff. Pity the nature walk is not a bit longer. Well worth a visit especially as the drive from Mulranny is so scenic.

The Ballycroy National park visitor centre really is a must see for anyone who loves nature! A beautiful visitors centre is nestled into the hills. There you can begin your journey of exploration through the park. There is a cafe with an extremely high standard of food and service (the poppyseed cake is divine). and an informative and fun exhibition about the park downstairs.Incidentally the exhibit was put together by the same company that made Wallace and Grommit.

The park itself is vast but there is 2k walk around the centre which give both breathtaking views and a good snip-it of the flora and fauna of the region. Pristine landscapes of outstanding beautiful are the view in every direction. The 2k walk is also suitable for older people or people with young children as there is a wooden walk way around it. As other reviewers have also noted the staff there are a mine of information and clearly love the landscape and sharing that love and wealth of knowledge with the visitors. So the more adventurous should also stop by before exploring the wider park area. If all that was not enough the visitor centre is free!

Happened upon the visit centre whilst out on a drive to Belmullet and what a super place. The visitors centre is very interesting for all ages and has a cafe upstairs which is reasonably priced. Sinead on the reception desk is very knowledgeable on the area and the place is spotless. There is a 20 minute walk with breathtaking views also longer walks but you would need appropriate clothing for these. I would highly recommend visiting here as the wilderness is beautiful and so so quiet. A complete gem.

my husband and I visited ballycroy last week and got the best of welcomes from the very professionl , informative and job happy Fintan at reception .. he was a mine of information and a treat to meet with unbounded enthusiasm for his work .. would that all interpretive centres have a front of house personality .........we then at at the ginger and wild café and had the home made treats by the lovely Nicola a very hard working and lady of the highest order... overall a great experience .an experience that could be the prototype for all other centres .. the building alone is worth a visit and the displays are top class .....
