“Perfect weekends away”
Reviewed February 2, 2014

My boyfriend and I originally chose Westport Country Lodge Hotel as a place to sleep after we hiked up Croagh Patrick over the summer. When we thought about a weekend away in January we chose Westport Country Lodge Hotel again because the first experience was really incredible. We received a warm welcome each time we checked in, our rooms were spectacular and clean, and the breakfast was worth waking up for after a night out. We spent time in the bar as well, and while it was quieter over the summer than in January, we were given impeccable service each time in the bar. The beds are incredible and I had a very peaceful and relaxing sleep each time. It is really quiet out there, away from traffic and noise, with a gorgeous view of Croagh Patrick. Unfortunately, I was feeling under the weather the morning we were meant to check out, so we asked for a late check out at the last minute and I was left to sleep as long as I needed... really hospitable and generous staff. Although we didn't try the restaurant for dinner, we will next time - and there will be a next time! This is by far our favorite place to go when we want a weekend away, and we plan to come back over and over again. If you need a quiet place to unwind, just five minute drive from Westport, this is the place. We have never been disappointed by the hotel or the staff, in fact, we are always impressed. Can't wait until we are back! Thanks so much!

This hotel is a great place to have a sunday lunch. The food is very well priced and top quality. It is a country hotel although it is new but is is totally safe for kids to walk about outside. No traffic. The bar is very relaxed and the patrons are mixed variety. I would reccommend this place for Sunday lunch or a relaxing evening.

I have just come back from two nights and I wish I could have stayed longer. Barely 5 minutes drive from Westport town this hotel is in a great location. It's far enough but not too far away from the pubs restaurants and so on. It was the most peaceful and relaxing weekend I have had in ages. When you walk in the door to the open fire and you are greeted by friendly Lorna on reception you can just feel the warmth. From reception to your room and to the bar you get a more homely feeling than hotel, very relaxing. The bar was great, although very spacious you could still have a quiet drink. Unfortunately we did not get to taste the menu but it smelt delicious. A good reason to head back. It was really difficult having to leave but we will definietly be back again. Lorna on reception could not have been more helpful or friendly towards us and she made it an easy decision to visit again.

Myself and my partner stayed in the Westport Country Lodge Hotel for a weekend away. The location is perfect and you cannot fault the stafff. In particular I would call out Lorna in reception Rita in the restaurant/bar. Both of the girls couldn't do enough to assist myself and my partner :-) The rooms were spacious and modern and breakfast on both mornings was second to none :-) I actually am finding it hard to find any negatives which is something I can't say for some places I have stayed. All in all a fantastic hotel in rural Mayo and one which we will definitley be visiting again in early 2014. Fiona.

Once again a Grabone deal found us a superb hotel. We had a two night deal and, as it was low season, we were given a family room although just a couple. It was huge with the most comfortable, massive double bed and two singles. It may be worth asking for this one, room 102.
We did not arrive until 9.30pm, reception was closed but check-in was carried out by the friendly bar staff. Here we had the only hiccup. We were told there was no Wifi, but at checkout this was corrected. Too late for us, but there is Wifi in the reception area.
The dinner menu gave a reasonable amount of choice for this time of year and the food was excellent.
Although the hotel is in the countryside, we thoroughly enjoyed the 4km walk into town, though care has to be taken on the main road. In Westport, the new Railway walk to the Quay is excellent.
If you are feeling active, try out the hotel's quirky Foot Golf course! This is a mixture of --- football and golf, with the aim of getting the football into the bucket-sized hole on the green.
A lovely, friendly hotel set in beautiful scenery. The breakfast view of Croagh Patrick mountain is stunning.

Room Tip: Try room 102. It does not have as good a view as front facing ones, but it is a vast, suite-sized on...

Stayed here on the Friday night before Sea 2 Summit. Not far out of Westport, located in the middle of the countryside with great views of the surrounding area. Arrived late on Friday night but it was no hassle to the folks here, who had our check in details ready for us to collect in the bar.
The room was fantastic, massive bed, i mean huge, extremely comfy and a big room in general.
Up early for breakfast next morning, choices of cereals and breads, tea/coffee and if you wanted a cooked breakfast your order was taken.
My race was a 9am and not finished until 1pm, we asked could we check out late and the lady ion charge was more than accommodating, allowing us to use the room right up to 3pm to have showers and get changed, this was massively appreciated and really nice of them especially as they were fully booked for that night also.
Overall this is a great place to stay while i Westport and i only wished we could have stayed for another night.
The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating and the hotel and rooms are spotless.
They also have a unique football/golf course which i would have loved to try out, maybe next time
