“Small but super”

Mangoes does exceptional food. The service was spot on. Not a cheap place to eat but sometimes it is well worth it. It is a small restaurant and inclined to feel a little packed in but they maintain a stylish feel anyway.

We had a really lovely evening in Mangos. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was fabulous and the menu had lots of choice. I would definitely recommend this place and I would def go back.

We were just in time for the Early Bird Menu. Lovely food and good service at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

“Mangos in it for the quick buck”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2014

Mangos on a Monday evening. Did I pick a bad day? Maybe...

Chowder to start - no real taste of the sea here. The bowl was full of shells as if they were used in the cooking. But were they? The chowder, though thin, was moderately successful but worse (much worse) was to come...like reheated vegetables. Not all the veg was reheated but some were. Those (reheated morsels) were tired looking and tasted of little. The main course consisted of salmon (accompaniment for the tired vegetables) which tasted strange...not really like fresh salmon. It was more than disappointing, I am afraid. The mashed potatoes were inedible. Only two veg seemed to have been freshly prepared and cooked on that particular Monday - the baby potatoes and the brocolli. How dull!

The wine might have rescued the situation but no!. The Argentinian Bousquet was a poor Malbec and should not feature on Mangos' list.

The atmosphere there was cool - the music and the lighthouse candle cowl. Oh dear! I felt diddled after it all...

Pros: Nice surroundings
Cons: Food on offer - indifferent
Tip: Avoid fish & avoid the Malbec
