Although I’m writing this review a little late, I thought a review for this wonderful B&B warranted a mention. Hazel Brook was simply a gem! John and Mary (the proprietors), were extremely helpful and the perfects hosts and made our stay an absolute pleasure!

We stayed in a good-sized room with an ensuite and both were kept immaculately, as is the rest of this B&B. John's breakfasts were delicious and filling. There was a wide selection of cereals, juices, fruit, cereals, toast and biscuits. John also cooked up our choice of an omlette which was delicious.

After staying in several other Bed and Breakfasts and hotels in Ireland over the summer, this has become my favourite. I would not hesitate to recommend this B&B to anyone seeking a quiet, welcoming temporary home in Westport. Thanks once again John and Mary for your warmth and all the care you give your guests! I will definitely stay here again when I return to the west of Ireland.

Excellent accodations, John the host was very friendly and helpful. He was very knowledgeable about the area and where to eat and drink and visit. Our room was at the front of the house it was clean, roomy and very comfortable. The attached bathroom was very clean. this was our 2nd stay at Hazelbrook, we went back because we enjoyed the area and b&B. Breakfast was wonderful, we spent some time after breakfast tlaking with John and enjoying him tlak about Ireland and where he has traveled in the US. We will go back again when we travel back to the Emerald Isle.

My girlfriend and I decided to climb Croagh Patrick and selected the Hazelbrook B&B as our accommodation.

Upon our arrival we were greeted by the owner, John, with a friendly smile and a firm handshake. We told him of our plans and he was quick to impart his knowledge on where and how we get there. He also kindly offered us flasks for the journey.

We proceeded into the house where John showed us to our room. The house is spotless and it really has that welcoming feel that is so hard to capture. The room was old fashioned in decor but immaculately clean with a fantastic shower, which is always a plus. The bed was comfortable with no shortage of pillows and a tv on the wall.

Having completed our day we awoke the following morning for breakfast. We made our way to the dining room where two other guests were present. Again, John was there to attend to our every need. All needs are catered for when it comes to the breakfast, fruit, cereals, breads, fry, etc. I get the feeling that if they didn't have it John would go to the shop and get it! We had the fry and it was superb, fresh and above all plentiful....in a good way. Some B&B's can load the plate with everything but here it was moderate to start and more if you needed....and don't be afraid to ask! The friendly banter with the other guests also added to the experience.

As we departed John informed us of the many other attractions that Westport has to offer I.e The Greenway Cycle. I couldn't recommend this B&B highly enough. It couples a warm welcome with comfort which makes it a home away from home!

We spent 2 wonderful days at Hazel Brook the second week of September. John was very friendly and helpful. He offered to lend us walking sticks for our hike up Crough Patrick and advised us of a nearby launderette which would deliver our clean clothes in the evening directly to the B&B. Every morning he would whip up a delicious breakfast to order. Our room was very comfortable and immaculate. It was a short 5 minute walk to the town center so we didn't need to drive into town.

We had a very fine stay in Hazelbrook during our tour in Ireland.John was a very kind host and served well cooked breakfasts. He loves his job : we could hear him chant in his kitchen. It was very convenient that it took us just 5 minutes to walk to the city. The rooms were very clean.
John gave good trip advise to visti Achill island, it made our stay worthwhile.
Thanks from Luc en Kristin (Belgium)

Room Tip: Select a room on walking distance from the town center , so that you can leave your car at the premisses
