“great cafe, great staff”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

We were pointed here by the friendly guy in the photography gallery over the road and were not disappointed. Just had a lovely lunch here with wife and aunty. Staff were friendly, food was tasty and the value was great too....they didn't seem to mind that we hung around gassing over tea for a while either. Will try the restaurant upstairs some time too. We will be going back next time we are in Westport...need I say more?

“Fantastic Food”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

We went to the restaurant upstairs and had a variety of starters all of which were excellent just a little quib Goats cheese portion to much and made the dish a little overpowering, main courses was excellent as was the wine. The staff was welcoming and very friendly and the price was very good value. I would recommend Sol Rio and will return again soon.

“Very nice place”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

I ate here at the weekend with my hubbie and two small kids.
Not that easily accessible with a buggy unfortunately – but they did offer to help. We went for simple choices of pasta – both of which were really nice. There was pizza for the kids, which we wanted to eat as it was so nice. The staff were lovely and obliging and couldn’t do enough to help. Went for dessert – the special – which was poached pair with meringue and rhubarb ice-cream – it was fantastic – best of everything. The whole bill was very reasonable. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a spot to grab something to eat in Westport. Only other negative was that there were no baby changing facilities – but again the staff obliged us with an area.

“This Chef can cook!”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

You know when you are on to a winner when a chef takes as much care with the accessories as the food itself. I ate here with my wife and sister. The set menu was great value at just over 20 euros but when you see items such as woodcock and duck foie gras on the set menu it has to be something special. My missus and sister both had the prawn cocktail and they declared it fantastic which is hard to accomplish for such a well known simple dish. I had the duck foie gras with goats cheese. Memorable. Both my wife and myself had the sole gratin and my sister had the lamb shank. The lamb was a success, the sole was delicate and tasty. This Chef knows the business and even the "twiddley" bits were works of art. The service was perfect but the real star, as it should be, was the food. If you are in Westport you must give this place a try.
