I was v disatisfied with the Welcome Inn
Booked online week before I came but when l went to my room it had never been cleaned since last guest had left
I was given another room on 2nd floor Lift broken so was exhausted carrying heavy suitcase upstairs
Heating came on room was like a sauna as v warm nt so asked could it be turned off as no knob on radiator
I was told night porter wasnt in yet but receptionist came up 2check my complaint and offered me another room
So l entered a third room at 11pm
Breakfast was poor
I was supposed 2stay 2nts buy left after one

I got €5 off my €55 bill for all the inconvenience
Badly in need of make over in every way

Stayed at the Welcome Inn, Castlebar, on Saturday 2nd August 2014. on arrival it certainly lived up to it's name as we were met by a very cheerful, helpful, and pleasent receptionist. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom had a jacuzzi. On booking we werre informed that there were a number of functions that night, and we were put as far away as possible, and even though it was busy downstairs, we slept well.
We had dinner in the bar which was nice, and remained on as there was a lot of activity, with a lot of very friendly people around. Indeed there was such a buzz we did not leave until 1.30am.
There was a good and varied breakfast on offer the next morning, with very nice porridge provided, and a great Irish. We enquired about where the Church was, and as my wife was on crutches, the owner (sorrry I did not get her name) drove us in her car, and gave us a tour of the town as well.
There was a good lunch menu, with two courses for €14, and half portions for €6.50. Great value on a Sunday. The roast beef was very good!
On checking out, we were allowed to leave our luggage in a safe place, as we attended a function in the Town.
Many thanks to the staff and management for a great welcome..

Room Tip: At the weekend get a room away from the function area.

We were attending an event in the hotel that night so it was handy to stay here .The outside of this hotel looked ok but the minute we stepped into the lobby we knew it was not going to be pleasant .The receptionist was very unprofessional and looked like she dident want to be there .When she told us it would be noisy that night from the disco and offered us a twin room in the" quite "part of the hotel we took it even though we had booked a double. Our room was not ready so we decided to have dinner in the bar ,I should have known things were bad when my shoes started to stick to the floor and looking around the whole place needed a good clean. The food was ok but the staff were so unfriendly it was not enjoyable. When we eventually got the key to our room and walked down a dull corridor with doors painted black we thought it looked like a hostel .The room and bathroom need serious updating .The single beds were very small and the telly was tiny . When we returned that night the disco was on and very noisy till about 4.30 am even in the "quite " part of the hotel ,at about 5.30 am there was loud talking ,laughing was running in the corridors and loud bangs on the walls from other guests trying to sleep ,it got quite about 6 am. The breakfast the next morning was the hotels saving grace .When we were checking out I said we couldent sleep because of the noise not from the disco but from rowdy guests we were offered a small discount .Will not be back.

Room Tip: rooms not good

It was clear the bar was busy because of a funeral dinner but nonetheless we were seated and given menu's, there wasn't a lot of choice but perhaps this was because it was the lunch menu and not the a la carte menu, the decor in the bar was dark but worked and the bar was presented nicely. The service was relatively quick and the portions generous for the price. If stuck for a quick bite to eat the Inn is certainly an option :)

Stayed here for 5 nights and very happy with the accommodation and food. Room large and clean. All staff I met were very helpful and friendly. Close to shops and restaurants in small friendly town.
Can be a little noisy when hosting a late night function.

We didn't stay here but had food and drinks in the bar. It was the Castlebar walking festival weekend. The bar food was good, and reasonably priced, but the drinks were quite expensive ... equivalent to Dublin prices.
