“amazing cusine”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

went here with my family for lunch. the food was outstanding and service was very good, the spicy chicken pitta was very nice and not very expensive for such a big portion, would definately return again, only negative was the inside is a bit old-fashioned and cold!!!

“Excellent Value for Money”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

First visit and found that the good reports already read on Tripadvisor are not exaggerated Very good food and great value for money and you get a complementary coffee to boot! Very attentive service, good atmosphere and, in total, a very pleasant experience.

I eat here up to 2 times a week and I've never been disappointed, every dish was very tasty and was very good value for money. Low prices, huge portions, great service. Food how it should be.

“Great experience”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

I always go here when I'm in Castlebar. They have an extensive menu and also do a lunch special with a selection of dishes ranging from Korma to Moroccan meatballs . Also do great Baklava. The owner is very friendly and helpful. I have never been disappointed with anything I ordered.

“Falafel with a smile”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

I arrived late, The Olive tree closes in the early evenings apart from Thursdays and Fridays, it can be a little sleepy in Castlebar during the week. I looked at the menu and the door opened. A pleasant chap apologised and explained that it just wasn't worth his while staying open later than 7. Fair enough, i asked where else was good to eat in town, then he invited me in, he hadn't shut his kitchen yet, i could be the last cover of the day. How lovely! So i had a falafel pitta and some pakora and a pink ginger lemonade concoction.
This was lovely food, in a sweet and welcoming atmosphere. There were children who i think were probably waiting for their dad to close up the shop for the evening. It felt like a family place, and when you are away from your own people this is what you want for your evening meal. I finished up and chatted a little with the owner, after i paid he gave me a little shot glass filled with home made lemon cheescake, because, as he put it, you need something sweet after your food. If you're in Castlebar: stop, relax and have a little Falafel with a smile.
