“Another great value break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2014

Just back after another 5 lovely days in Breaffy. We stayed in the old hotle again (as Ive said previously, it has so much more character than the Woods). Great value trip, 5 nights B&B and 2 evening meals for €626.....works out at €25.04 each per day. Family rooms as always have plenty of space. The meal on first night (Thursday) wasn't great, but on Sunday was superb. I have mentioned here before that the only let down with this hotel is a lack of consistency (another example is that some bar staff charge .50c for a diluted orange/black currant and some don't). John (our waiter on the Sunday) was, as always, very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for him,, an old school waiter if ever there was one, and he made us feel welcomed and important. We missed him on the first evening, even the kids were disappointed (this being our fourth visit)when they noted he wasn't about.... but he was back on Sunday evening and all was well with our meal (coincidence I wonder?). The pool was great for the kids, and as always the crazy golf does a roaring trade.... it was chilly of an evening, but that's autumn in an old building for you, put a jumper on and suck it up. Drinks were expensive I found this year with a Smithwicks coming in at €4.60 and a Heineken at €4.90...... and I really do think they should well crisps and nuts behind the bar..... €2 for Pringles and skittles from a vending machine that is sometimes empty increases parents expense. On the plus side, you can get 2 litres of orange or 7Up for €5 in the bar....something we only discovered on our last night. I still love Breaffy and will be back again next year. Please, get some new games in the games room for the kids. As for entertainment, live music nightly was great but for one....that man who plays the CD's in the bar does NOT qualify as entertainment and his rambling lines of inane chit-chat and awful musical choices (old school mixing old and new) You wont cater for everyone so pick a happy medium for Gods sake. Well done to the staff on catering two large wedding parties at the weekend and this did not impact a whit on the rest of the guests. I used the gym for the first time, it was well equipped and maintained. well done again *****.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the back as the floodlights light the front of the building until late. Park r...

We booked our Wedding Reception at Breaffy House back in December 2012 and from then til our Wedding Day (July 19th 2014), we were blown away by the venue and the staff. During the planning process, we dealt with Brenda, Denise and Simon and i can't thank them enough for the time and effort they put into giving us the perfect day. No job was too big and they were always there offering help and advice. On the day, we got our pictures taken on the grounds of the hotel, which is absolutely beautiful. The service and attention to detail on the wedding day was amazing as was the food (Starter: Chicken and Mushroom Vol au Vent, Main: Lamb and a duo of salmon and seabass, and Dessert: A Trio; warm berry pie, lemon cheesecake and chocolate profiterole) which our guests are still raving about. The curried fish and chips that night went down very well with our guests so thanks Simon for doing such a fantastic job:) Thank you to all at Breaffy House for making the day so special for us. We couldn't have picked a better venue.

Our family stayed here over Easter , I couldn't believe the great value we got. There was loads for us to do and keep everyone entertained. The entire hotel was spotless and the staff were extremely kind to the children. We went down to the 'Woods Hotel' on site for the family entertainment nightly & the kids had a ball dancing around with all the other children, the family quiz went down a storm too! The kids were exhausted after kids club and swimming which meant dinner time was lovely and peaceful! The food wasn't fancy but good quality and wholesome with plenty of choice. We'll be going back this summer.
