“Wonderful B&B”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

I was welcomed by Bernie with tea, scones and jam. She is a lovely lady, and really makes you feel at home. I had the continental breakfast, which was more than enough, with fruit juice,tea/coffee, fresh fruit - great with Bernie's home made granola sprinkled on it - cereals, yoghurts, scones, home-madecake, bread, jam. Bernie even made me porridge a couple of mornings, and you can get a huge cooked breakfast for a few extra Euro. The house is set up on a hill, so great views all round. Bernie is helpful with choices of places to visit, and as has been said before, nothing was too much trouble. I stayed for 5 nights, and feel as though I have made a good friend. I definately hope to return sometime. Don't hesitate to book, you will not regret it.

We were made very welcome by Bernie and would recommend Drumshinnagh to anyone staying in the area. Good food, very clean, lovely views, peaceful. Drumshinnagh will always be the first place we consider staying whilst in Castlebar.

We stayed for 2 nights in this lovely house that we feel really at home especially the kids. It was like visiting our own relative in a beautiful countryside, which was close to almost all local attractions in county mayo. The food was excellent, a full irish breakfast that we need not to eat lunch on the rest of our journey for the day. Bernie is a lovely woman who can cook well, very hospitable and accommodating. Its just like being in a family home where you can enjoy the peaceful scenery of a farmland from the top of the hill. The rooms are excellently clean and more space for the kids to play around. Also with free internet to check your emails or other necessities. Affordable room rates and comfortable parking area.

I stayed for one night on my way to TullyCross in co. Galway, and I could have stayed longer. Bernie is an amazing host. It was like meeting a dear friend. Wonderful experience, comfortable room, great breakfast, and VERY competitive rates. I will definately return.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet, with great views

Stayed for three nights to a really welcoming place, where children had the space to run outside and be themselves. It is just outside Castlebar, which is great!
Thanks a bunch honey bunch ;), you are a fantastic woman. We'll be back if we can.

Breakfasts were huge and perfectly cooked, the bed was seriously the best we have ever slept on and furnishings luxurious. Bernie was so helpful and kind, even looking after my 80-yr-old Mother when neccessary so my partner and I could go out on our own occasionally, without worrying whether she would be OK. Nothing was too much trouble, and our breakfasts were even on 2 occasions split into Continental and Brunch so we could pop out in between. We stayed for a whole week and could not have had a better time! If you are looking for top class B&B in the Castlebar area, look no further!

Have stayed here for close to 10 years and wouldn't stay anywhere else. I disagree with the last reviewer as if you want a full cooked breakfast this is the place to go. For 35 Euros you get an amazing cooked breakfast, continental breakfast and your accomodation per night. As stated before most B&B's cost 40 Euros. It has the best setting away from the town but just a short taxi ride away. You will not find hospitality like this in most places and I couldn't rate this B&B high enough. Bernie and Michael (the owners) are extremely welcoming and will do all they can to accomodate you.
