I had long wanted to visit the Mountain of pilgrimage - Croagh Patrick - now unable to climb it but happy to sit in the car and gaze at its magnificence. We were there on a wonderful day - the light was superb. There is a large car park with a height restriction. A lane leads up to the start of the walk. I did it in spirit - remembering the stories of Irish friends about their climbs over the years.

We did the hike up the 750 m high Mountain in the middle of october. It was so windy and rainy that our hands were frozen and our hair was wet, because we were right in the clouds! We even met a man who told us that he went up 30 times and this time the weather was the worst ! The first 300 metre the view was spectacular, and the rest 450 m we had to have a look at the TripAdvisor pictures because when we were at the top there was nothing more to see than clouds and we nearly got blown off the top. It was fun though and we are very proud of ourselfs sitting in a cosy pub with the fire on

This is my 4th time climbing this mountain and I love it
Myself and 5 friends climbed it on Saturday there was a few showers but nothing too bad
Some of my friends found it tough especially the boulder field near the top but everyone made it to the top and were rewarded with spectacular views
Would thoroughly recommend everyone should climb it at last once but make sure you go prepared for all weathers and wear good sturdy boots

We decided to make the climb before we arrived in Ireland, so had taken walking boots and correct clothing. It is quite steep in parts, to say the least, but worth the effort. After climbing for two hours, I was ready to give up, and come back down, but the people coming down really encourage you to carry on. It took 3 hours to climb, as I had to keep stopping, but the views are amazing from the very top. It took us 1 hour 40 mins to get back down, but that is also a little tricky because of the loose rocks. I was really glad to have do this and felt great afterwards. Btw, there are toilets facilities along the way, although we didn't use them, so don't know how clean etc etc
