“d Hotel? Meh....”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

Surprised by all the postive notes here. I was not impressed. The d Hotel is certainly not up to 4 star standard. Aircon does not exist here, nor does it have a sauna. The postive effect of that was because of the high temperatures outside the rooms doubled as saunas! Leaving the jokes aside, a hotel like this should have airconditioned rooms. Also out of seven days the internet was working only on one evening! This is incredibly poor for a hotel attracting, or hoping to attract, business clientele.
Some of the rooms, like mine, are very poorly located near the adjoining pub with (outside) live music and outdoor seating. This guarantees many sleepless hours, especially at Fridays and weekends. Staff was only willing to relocate me for one night, stating 'fully booked' as the reason. If you come here to sleep get a room overlooking the carpark or river.
Breakfast ok. Small gym was ok. Food in pub decent for pub food.

That is about it. I feel that I have been rather generous with my 2 star rating.
My advice? Go elsewhere.

Room Tip: overlooking river or carpark

I never write war & peace reviews as people are normally just looking for re-assurance they’re not wasting their money.
Its a very clean, lovely hotel, centrally situated in Drogheda on the Boyne... Rooms are large, breakfast is big and tasty - all in all a great place, with professional friendly staff.
Ps. The pub attached to the hotel - food is exceptionally nice....

Room Tip: When checking in, see if the have a river facing room

Nice, clean, modern hotel which is situated along the Boyne River. The room was a bit warm in May, but luckily there was a fan as the window did not open. The room came with a (HUGE) full Irish breakfast which I took about half of it to go and had it for lunch! Dinner with live music in the historic Brewery which they preserved wonderfully. Check-out is at noon, so had the a.m. to walk through town seeing the historic sites. And parking was good for the entire day at the hotel, so could have spent more time.

I stayed at this fairly new hotel for 2 nights and I was really impressed. The rooms are large with large windows and my room looked straight over the River Boyne with just the pedestrian walkway in between. Even though I was there for a Friday night it was quiet. The adjoining restaurant is an old brewery which is tastefully designed albeit a little dark. The modernity of the hotel was exciting, although it took me sometime to find out how to work the shower! Even though I spend most of my working life staying in hotels I would willingly go back to this hotel because it was so calm and relaxing and in convenient but peaceful surroundings.

Room Tip: Try for a room facing the river.

Stayed here as part of a CIE tour. Room was neat and clean. Very modern decor, which comes comp, eye with a welcoming snack. Great view of the river from the room. Some other rooms do not have the same great view as they are doing construction next door to the hotel. There is a small, shopping mall right next door and a gastro pub connected directly to the hotel. The hotel is within walking distance of some very historical sights. Staff was very cordial.

I stayed here recently on a one night package and I really liked the hotel. Nice luxury room, lovely decor and clean. Staff very friendly especially reception and breakfast room staff. I note a previous reviewer said breakfast is served in a bar, that's not true, its served in what seems to be a function room that has a bar in it but the actual hotel bar is a completely separate venue as we were in it one night. We got baked beans and fried eggs at breakfast no problem, we just had to ask and staff were so willing to please. Location couldn't be more central, especially for those who love shopping as shopping center right next door. I would definitely stay here again on a visit to Drogheda.

Room Tip: Ask for river view room if possible.

Had such a disappointing stay. A two night weekend break that will not be repeated. Was on an inclusive package and pre booked dinner only to get to the hotel to find they had lost our reservation. Even though they rang us to confirm 2 days previous! Offered to seat and serve us dinner in the open lobby even though a large function was ongoing in the room leading off the looby. The issue here being that this function room is simply closed off to the public by a curtain.
The breakfast/dinner room is a pub, not so nice to be eating breakfast in a pub. Breakfast menu was basic. No beans, fried eggs, hash browns etc. No cheeses or meat platter.
The staff lacked in attention to detail: Took 15 mins to get served a drink after ordering. Food brought to table before cutlery. Tea served before cup was brought to table. My starter arrived 5 mins after my partners. No evidence of service standards at all.
A line of people queing to complain upon checkout. As there was no reception background music everyone heard each complaint in detail. Manager nonchalantly standing by totally disinterested in his work.

The positives : free parking and good water pressure in the shower.

If you want to stay here do so on a room rate only. Much better restaurants within a few minutes if a walk.
