“A must stay for a relaxing break away”
Reviewed November 8, 2011

Myself and my wife regularly stay in the D hotel for a night away from the kids and a chance to relax. They have an excellent deal of €55 per person B&B and 4 course meal which to me is one of the best deals around for the standard of hotel that is the "D". Its location is right in the middle of everything and yet the quietness of the hotel and the views onto the river are worth their weight in gold.
The cleanliness of the rooms, bars, restaurant etc is outstanding and the level of customer service supplied by the staff is highly commended.
As for the food.....well its very hard to explain something unless you try it for yourself. Its amazing! We have recommended the hotel to friends, family, work collegues and they themselves have either stayed, booked meals, parties etc and all have had nothing bad to say about the hotel. It will be a hotel that I wil personally keep using for functions and breaks for a very very long time to come.
Keep up the good work D hotel you have a wonderful place there in Drogheda.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view if available.

Stayed here with my wife for a Saturday night getaway. We stayed in a Superior King. The room was spotless. For a hotel of this standard, the price was excellent. They have an excellent selection of beers and wines, and the keenly-priced food was lovely.
What sets this hotel apart however, is the staff. They are exceptionally pleasant and friendly, without being intrusive; and when my wife took ill and missed most of the evening, not only were they sympathetic, but allowed her to sleep off her illness until she was fully recovered. It was almost 3 o'clock when we vacated our room. We stayed on and enjoyed a lovely lunch without having to worry about a hefty parking bill. Parking is free. Nothing was too much trouble for this team. We've stayed in some fabulous hotels only to be disappointed by taciturn service. Not so here. Individually, and as a team they made our stay a pleasure. Many thanks. 10/10

Room Tip: For loads of space and comfort book a Superior King.

Stayed here for two nights with my wife and two children.(10yrs+18mths old). Got v good deal With 2 nts b+b, 1 evening meal and Tayto Park tickets. We had our incl.evening meal at 18.00 when the restaurant opened on our first day and although the food was excellent,we returned to our room at 19.40 without our desserts and asked for them to be sent to our room as our our daughter had had enough of her high chair and it was nearing her bed time- Disappointing as ours was the only table occupied in the restaurant for the first 30 mins. We had also requested a cot for our room online and confirmed this by phone and despite this,we found that on our arrival, an extra bed had been placed in our room instead?? - this was removed promptly however and replaced with a travel cot. Overall,we had a pleasant stay and would stay here again.

booked in for one night, checked in we were advised breakfast served from 7-11, checked into our room it was a decent sized room and even with a travel cot plenty of room to move about. The room wasnt spotless, floor in bathroom was dirty and there was marks on the walls etc that made it look bad. We ate in the bar downstairs and i have to say the food was very nice. In the morning i went for breakfast with our son before hitting the shops and returned to the hotel just after ten, my partner then went for breakfast but was told breakfast had finished at 10 not eleven like advised at check inn....mistakes happen. My breakfast wanst great any way it ws swimming in grease. This hotel in very central but i honestly would shop around before booking it again.

My wife and I have stayed here 4 times now in recent times and found it to be great value. The prices they charge are extremely keen, and for what you get on a package here, you could not pass it. The hotel has rooms with lovely views over the Boyne, the town and the railway bridge. We got a corner room with balcony again this time, as we love the fresh air, and being able to stand out and take in the views. This visit, we asked them toshow us the penthouse room, of which they have two. The light and dark rooms, te wil he light room was very beautiful, with great views, and all the comforts you could want, and the price was very reasonable. We will be trying it out soon for a special occasion. Drogheda is a great little town, with good shops, and the hotel is right next door to Scotch Hall shopping centre, so you dont even need to move the car. A great hotel for firends or couples, to visit, with the package deals, you get a lovely meal as part of it, and a decent breakfast. Well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Go for a room with a view, it is so nice.

Stayed for a one night getaway from Dublin and on the whole was impressed.

Both the room and the product in general provided excellent value for money and would definitely return.

If I were to nit pick - the breakfast fell below our expectations. The cold buffet was hardly expansive, and the plated full Irish offering consisted of just bacon, pudding and tomatoes and a fried egg with a couple of sausages. My partner ordered the pancakes which were a little too thick for her liking and tasted underdone.

Furthermore, when asking for a bottle of wine to take up to the room, the barman offered 4 options. For a 4 star hotel, one would expect a wine list to be presented, or at least a better offering than the wines served by the glass.

As I mentioned, I am nit picking, and for €99BB, for a night away, it exceeded our expectations.
